    Plano Bridal Show Review

The Plano Bridal Show on September 16th at the Plano Centre was another big success. Due to the popularity of the show, additional space in the hallway was opened up to allow more companies the opportunity to meet with nearly 500 brides out of over 1,600 attendees.

"I was at the Plano Bridal Show on September 16, 2007 and was so impressed with the number of brides that attended. I had great conversations with many of the brides that stopped by my booth and have already booked one wedding from the show! Thanks to Naomi for running the best Bridal Shows in the Metroplex!"

Bridal Shows, Inc. was excited to partner with Star Community Newspapers and the Plano Star Courier with a full spread which was handed out to all attendees. The Twister was also present to give away an ultimate wedding giveaway valued at over $16,000. (See article below).

    Congratulations!!

Thank you to our winners of the exhibitor's coupon contest. The following three companies brought in the highest amount of coupons to the show. Their prize amounts will be contributed to the next Plano Bridal Show on March 9, 2008.

    Naomi's Notes: Life Happens
    by:Naomi Hulme
    Naomi

Have you ever had something happen that caused you to think, "It was not supposed to happen that way!"?

Life can hit us in a manner that is sometimes not so pleasant. We have two choices-we can either stay in a negative attitude toward that "something," or we can step back and look at things from a different perspective and maybe, just maybe, the outcome will even be better than we originally thought and planned for.

Be open to those unexpected events and know that, yes, they will happen.

We all have so many positive experiences every day, whether we see them or not-they are there. Be grateful for life and all of its challenges.

    Happy Anniversary!

In the past month we have celebrated two anniversaries at the Bridal Shows, Inc. office.

    James Nutt--ONE YEAR!
On August 28th James had officially been with Bridal Shows, Inc. for one year. James joined us to lead up our Wedding Industry Trade Show, just one of the many ways we try to serve the industry. He is also an Account Executive for many of the companies in our bridal shows.

Bonnie Crumpton--FIVE YEARS! Five years ago on September 17th Bonnie came to work for Naomi Hulme as a "temporary employee" and has been on board ever since. As a full-time Account Executive she manages several companies accounts with Bridal Shows, Inc. and helps bring new companies in. After five years I think it is safe to say her employment is no longer "temporary."

    A Sad Farewell

Changes are always inevitable but we are still sad to say goodbye to Leah Fitch, Account Executive for Bridal Shows, Inc.

Leah's last day with the company is Friday, September 28, so if you have a chance, call to wish her good luck in her new endeavors. Some of you may be aware that Leah is also a professional makeup artist and is looking to pursue her new business "Making up with Leah," so we are sure to still see her around in the industry.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking for a new Account Executive to take Leah's position. In the meantime we are all happy to help anyone that has any questions.

    Sponsoring the
    Dallas Bridal Show

Bridal Shows, Inc. is proud to announce a new partnership between Macy's and the Dallas Bridal Show. Having been an exhibitor for years, Macy's is now sponsoring the Dallas Bridal Show on January 26-27, 2008. We look forward to all the wonderful opportunities this partnership provides for both counterparts and are honored to be associated with one of the greatest most recognizable companies in America.

    A Story of Success

Hello. This is Gloria Parker, sole proprietor of Blooming Accents, a new custom floral design business. I have always loved working with flowers and knew that there was much to learn about the mechanics that make arrangements look so beautiful and professional.

So, a little more than a year ago, I decided to take a couple of weeks off from the law firm where I work full-time to attend a two-week floral design class at Texas A&M University. I got home and did a few things here and there, but not as much as I wanted to do. Where to start? How to get exposure? A friend from class secured a wedding for us in Granbury and from there I was introduced to BSI. (Bridal Shows, Inc.)

I made the decision to invest in my first show, held this past July. I was nervous about it; had never done anything like that ... was nervous about spending the money since I was not yet generating much income from the business. But I jumped out there, and the rest is history. I have to apologize to Leah and the entire BSI staff for being so dilatory in sending this testimonial, but I have been so busy since the show that I have not taken the the time to write to thank them for all the show has done for me.

Since July, I have booked 20 weddings .... 19 of them a direct result of exhibiting at the show. I have received referrals from brides I met there in July for whom I have not even done work yet. It's all very exciting. Exhibiting at BSI will be at least an annual event for me. I'd love to work all the shows, but my calendar is already full into September '08.....

Thank you, Leah, Naomi and the entire BSI staff for your help with exhibiting and all the tips regarding following up and making the most of the exposure.

    Wedding Associations

For those of you that are not already the member of one or more wedding associations, now is the time to take your business to the next level by becoming a member! Being a member of a wedding association means adding credibility to your company, spreading the word through networking, obtaining a strong list of referrals to offer your brides, educating yourself on topics important to our industry, and much more!

Take some time to research the following three associations of which we are proud members. Oh, and an added bonus of becoming a member is a discount at all of our bridal shows!

3rd Annual Wedding Industry Trade Show

Time to mark your calendars as we have secured a date for next year's Wedding Industry Trade Show. Based on some feedback, we have gone back to making the trade show a one-day event full of helpful tools to build your wedding business. The event has also been moved to the fall season to hopefully allow for more attendance. More to come on this show in upcoming newsletters so stay posted and save the date!
