  • Wedding Industry Trade Show : Review

On May 16-17 wedding professionals from around the Metroplex attended the 2nd Annual Wedding Industry Trade Show at the Plano Centre. We are proud to say the event was a success and helped many companies learn ways to build their business. The best way to express the benefits from the show is to share some of the feedback from attendees and exhibitors.

    From the Attendees:

    • The speakers both gave us ideas and revitalized us on our business.
    • Great resource for making industry contacts.
    • I feel recharged and ready to go back to work with a great attitude and new ideas of how to better myself professionally for my clients.
    • I'm jazzed and ready to sell more.
    • The speakers were very informative and there were several vendors that I felt could grow my business.
    • I am glad I attended this show. My business will definitely benefit and prosper from all of my connections. It is often too easy to get caught up in working that you forget to actually think about how to make your business grow in order to better service your customers. This was a wonderful experience and opportunity. Thank you! P.S. Bonnie did a wonderful job! (Everyone else was super friendly and helpful too!!-Thanks!)
    • This show gave everyone a really "connected" feeling throughout. Thank you!
    • I gained some invaluable information and was re-energized to implement this in my job.
    • Met some new people, made good contacts.
    • Loved the table talks.
    • Helpful with solid leads, professional people, and very well done.
    • I learned a lot from the speakers about how to market my business.
    • I learned a lot about an industry that I'm new to. Marketing, Publicity, etc. Made great contacts and new friends.
    • I got a ton of good information and made lots of new friends.
    • The seminars and speakers all had a win, win attitude. In this business you have to think big and positive. I appreciated all the reinforcements and timeless truths discussed.

    From the Exhibitors:

"(Your staff) carried on the show with professionalism and enthusiasm. I'm really glad PicFlips was able to be a part of your show this year. We were very pleased....The roundtables were very helpful in getting ideas from our peers and experts on the subjects...."

    ~Amy Kelly, PicFlips

On behalf of the Officers and members of AWP, I would like to thank you for inviting AWP to participate in the recent Wedding Industry Trade Show. This was a new venture for us and I feel it went very well for us. We were able to sign up several new members, and we have expectations that several more will join as well."

Dwayne Lee, Association of Wedding Professionals

"I had such a nice time with you all last week at the (trade show). You, James, and everyone else who put that together really did a great job. I'm looking forward to giving you the results of my follow up calls with the leads I got."

    Treta Sellers, Ackley Financial Group

Curious to know what all the fuss is about? Be on the lookout for information about next year's Wedding Industry Trade Show. We will be searching for a different location every year so everyone across the Metroplex has the opportunity to attend.

No matter how busy we get, everyone can benefit from an energy boost to move them along. Plan on the Wedding Industry Trade Show to help motivate you and your team every year! Make it a yearly tradition to attend. For any ideas or questions about this event please contact James at james@bridalshowsinc.com.

    Naomi's Notes: "Knowledge is Power"
    by:Naomi Hulme
    Naomi

Thank you to everyone that attended our recent Wedding Industry Trade Show on May 16-17 as well as those exhibiting companies that participated. Unfortunately I was unable to be there for most of the event due to illness.

I want to personally thank my team for doing a superb job of handling everything at the show. It is very rewarding to have such a great team with wonderful positive attitudes who can take care of things when I can't be there. Thank you James for taking care of so many behind the scenes things that I normally handle myself. Thank you Bonnie for doing the program, all of the announcing for the speakers, the door prizes, and especially for pinch-hitting for me by presenting the Exhibiting 101 seminar. Thank you Tracy, Tiffany, Leah, Betty, and Ruthie for handling registration, the show office booths, and all the many other tasks that took place.

Those of you that know me know that I love to read and constantly educate myself. Many of the speakers at the Wedding Industry Trade Show spoke about the importance of reading. Business owners must make time to read up on new sales techniques, latest trends in the industry, motivational techniques, stress and time management, customer services, advertising and publicity advice, etc. Never stop the process of learning---knowledge is power!

I made a challenge to the attendees at the Wedding Industry Trade Show to read at least 10 new books this year. We have put together some inspiration bookmarks for you to use to track each business related book you read. After reading 10 books (you have to read the books completely), call me at 972- 713- 9920 for a prize!

For those avid book readers like myself, I will be conducting a contest for whoever can read the most books starting from May 17, 2007, until next year's Wedding Industry Trade Show.

If you would like for us to mail you a "Knowledge is Power" bookmark along with a list of suggested books to read, please email us at info@bridalshowsinc.com with "BOOKMARK" in the subject title.

For those of you that would like to check out books from my personal library, please feel free to stop by. We would love to see you!

    "4 Great Business Card Ideas"

    By: Robert Warlow

How often have you opened your office drawer to find a pen only to have to search your way through a pile of business cards collected over the past few months? Your immediate response is to throw them away and that's the problem with business cards- they are usually unmemorable.

Here are some ideas on how you can make your business card a bit more useful.

    Handy Web Sites
On the reverse of your card, why not list some web sites which your clients may find of use. They don't have to be related to your line of business, for example you could print details on a site providing a list of jokes (useful for speech writing!).

    Do You Remember?
Going to a networking event is the equivalent to a business card swapping club! Once your card goes into someone's drawer they are unlikely to remember where you met. So on the back of the card, print "Do you remember we met at ________and discussed __________" This should be a good memory jogger!

    Print Your Picture
Our minds are more efficient at remembering pictures than words. Why not print your picture on your card? When the recipient looks at your card sometime later, he is much more likely to remember who you are and what you do.

    What's The Date?
People are always scratching around to find out what the date is. Print a calendar on the reverse of your card. This gives an excuse for someone to keep your card permanently in his pocket.

Take a fresh look at your business card and see what you can do to make it more memorable.
