Dear Grace Friends,
Recently an author making an appearance on a late night talk show discussed America's role in the world's transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. He likened the resistance it has inspired to the era when we made the switch from typewriters to computers.
I remember that time period oh so well.......

G: You're really going to love how this computer will make your life easier.
J: I don't even know how to turn that thing on!
G: You can store all your data in the computer and access it when you need it.
J: Yes, and I can also lose it all by hitting the wrong key!
G: Just think of all the money you'll save on correction tape and typewriter ribbon.
J: But my Olivetti is in perfect condition. I've only had it since 1969!.......

We've been in the personal computer age now for well over 20 years and it has been a benefit to us in many ways. Christians are taking advantage of the availablity of a myriad of educational materials on the Internet. We access bulletin boards and discuss Biblical issues with Christians all over the world. Churches communicate pertinent information to their congregations and beyond via their web sites. The progress has been amazing and (admittedly so) well worth the initial inconvenience.

Grace Harvest Bazaar and Country Fair
The Country Girl
The Country Girl
would like to invite you to come to the Grace Harvest Bazaar and Country Fair. It's at Grace UMC on Saturday, October 18th from 8:30a - 2:00p.

Your first stop will be the Coffee Shop for Coffee and Sweet Rolls. Then at 9:00 you can browse the Country Store for craft items and homemade goodies. After that, make your way to Fellowship Hall and the Country Fair where you'll find games, activities and munchies for adults and children. At 11:30  you'll lunch on Sloppy Joes and Soup. By this time you'll probably be pretty full, but on your way out of the church, don't forget to stop by the Cookie Booth on the Mulberry Street landing for a box of cookies to take home with you. The Country Girl wants to remind you that all proceeds go to local missions so you won't want to miss out on the fun and food, but you'll also know that it's all for a good cause. See you there!

Help Needed

  • Finance Counting Committee, after service needs help counting money collected during the service.  If interested call the church office at 457-5329.
  • Web Site Team needs help. If you are interested in writing articles and updating to www.kokomograce.org; if you have a feel for the design of websites and the kinds of information that will be helpful in speaking to our community about Grace Church, and the ways we seek to follow Jesus, then contact one of our team:  Tim Garner, Val Harris, Randy Manning, Abram Stamper or Patrick May.
  • Shopping With Joy For Missions: Yellow bags are conveniently located in the Parlor and Mulberry St. entrance, so you can Shop With Joy for Local Missions.  As you shop weekly, think about picking up an item or two to help the following organizations.  Current needs include...
    • Kokomo Urban Outreach (Jeff Newton) - Peanut butter jars.
    • Open Arms (Kem Howell) - hair supplies like spray or gel, brushes, shampoos, conditioners.
    • CAM (Ruth Lawson) - Toilet paper and personal hygiene items like shampoo, bar soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, and deodorant.
    • Nesting Doves (Brenda Roberts) - toilet paper, diapers for newborns, laundry detergent... regular or baby friendly.

Bring items to the parlor area in the yellow bag.  The Mission Ministry Team will then distribute these to the different groups each month.
