This Sunday, Sept. 7th, the children will begin to "Dig Into the Bible", their new Sunday school curriculum. Also, it is Promotion Sunday with all 2nd-5th grade youth receiving Bibles. The youth and their families are invited to stay for lunch and a workshop on using and reading their Bibles from 12-3 p.m. Childcare will be provided for younger siblings. Fall Fellowship Pot Luck Dinner

The Fall Fellowship Pot Luck Dinner is to be held on Sunday, September 14 at 12:00 noon. The Church will provide the meat and drinks. If you have the last name beginning with the following letters, please plan on bringing the listed item to share: A-H Salad, I-P Vegetable, Q-Z Desert. Please plan on attending for the fun, food, games and to watch Pastor Steve "walk the plank" in a dunk tank.

Ladies... What If You Learned How To Call Upon The Name Of The Lord...
Join the Ladies Bible Study that meets on Tuesday mornings 9:00 - 11:00... or Thursday nights 6:30 - 8:30. You'll open the door to enrichment.
You'll read and discuss "The Power Of A Praying Woman" by Stormie Ormartian. It's supplemented by lectures, refreshments, and of course PRAYER.
The program lasts 10 weeks. It begins on Tuesday, September 9th... or Thursday, September 11th.

Growing Christians Schedule

We publish the print version. This week there are eight pages ordered for printing. However, when viewed on line we view pages 8 and 1, then 2 and 7, then 6 and 3, then 4 and 5.
You needn't crick your neck trying to read sideways. Adobe Reader permits you to right-click and select "Rotate Clockwise" to read Grace Notes online and comfortably.

Holy Land Trip -The Holy Land Classic 2009 is a 10-day trip beginning February 3, 2009. Contact a pastor for more information. Betsy Durham says thank you for scholarship award (Grace Notes p. 7). Ralph Cory says thanks to all who helped with fish fry and announces a profit of over $900 for UM Men Missions work. (Grace Notes p. 7) Jeff Newton says Thank You for all who helped with Kokomo Urban Outreach this Summer. (Grace Notes p. 3) Dave Brownfield says "Thank you" to all that helped with Gracie's Garage Sale, that gained a profit for UM Men Missions work of over $1700, (Grace Notes, p. 4)

Legalized Gambling in Indiana

Rev. Lorin Clemenz, from the Indiana Coalition Against Legalized Gambling, will be guest speaker at our Monday, September 22 meeting of the United Methodist Men.Rev. Clemenz is a retired United Methodist Minister,Both the North and South Indiana Annual Conferences at their most recent sessions each endorsed a resolution against the expansion of legalized gambling in Indiana.
Rev. John Wolf, a founder of the Indiana and national coalitions, has spoken to Grace United Methodist Men in past years. For more information, go to ICALG.
Women are always welcome to attend Men's Group meetings. Reservations are needed only for the meal.Reservations for the 6:00 p.m. catered meal may be given to Val Harris at 453-6952.

If you are interested in writing articles and updating to www.kokomograce.org; if you have a feel for the design of websites and the kinds of information that will be helpful in speaking to our community about Grace Church, and the ways we seek to follow Jesus, then contact one of our team: Tim Garner, Val Harris, Randy Manning, Abram Stamper or Patrick May. Shopping With Joy For Missions: Yellow bags are conveniently located in the Parlor and Mulberry St. entrance, so you can Shop With Joy for Local Missions. As you shop weekly, think about picking up an item or two to help the following organizations. Current needs include...
- Kokomo Urban Outreach (Jeff Newton) - Peanut butter jars.
- Open Arms (Kem Howell) - hair supplies like spray or gel, brushes, shampoos, conditioners.
- CAM (Ruth Lawson) - Toilet paper and personal hygiene items like shampoo, bar soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, and deodorant.
- Nesting Doves (Brenda Roberts) - toilet paper, diapers for newborns, laundry detergent... regular or baby friendly.
Bring items to the parlor area in the yellow bag. The Mission Ministry Team will then distribute these to the different groups each month. |
