FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Dear Friends,

                 Feel The Warmth, The Glow

As You Reach Out And Touch.

Reach Out... Touch... Help... Your Neighbor Use Their Gifts.

Feel yourself sensing direction... purpose... meaning.  Experience yourself wanting to reach out.

Share the wonder as the power of scripture and the spirit transform you... as your habits change.

Feel the rhythm of the Kingdom as you move in the Word and in the world.

Welcome to INTO THE WORD INTO THE WORLD, the Disciple II Program.

You'll draw upon a resource library that enhances your experience by providing historical, cultural, and geographic information.  It enriches your experience.

You dissect Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts in this 32 week program.  You see them in new ways.

Won't you join us as we begin the journey on Thursday August 21st?  The group meets from 7:00-9:30 P.M. in the Bride's Room every Thursday.

See you there!

* Disciple I is a prerequisite.

GRACE'S ALL YOU CAN EAT FISH FRY

Added Grace

Plan An Evening Out With Your Friends And Neighbors.

Join us for the UMM's all you can eat fried fish and pork fritter fund raiser.  Reserve Saturday, August 23rd, from 4:00-7:30 P.M. now.

The UMM will give you cut green beans, slaw, lemonade, and decaffeinated coffee along with your fish and pork.  Of course if you prefer ice water will be available.

The UMM promise to pamper you with all the Alaskan Pollock and fritters you can eat.

Tickets for adults cost $8.00 at the door or $7.50 in advance.  Children 5 to 12 years old eat for $5.50.  Those under 5 eat free.  Tickets will be available from members, the office, and sold on Sundays in Fellowship Hall beginning about July 6th

By the way men, the UMM can use your help for this event.  You can choose from...
  • Breadeing food.
  • Filling drink containers.
  • Serving food.
  • Emptying trash.
  • Delivering fish and fritters to the serving line or to the guests.
  • Assisting the elderly and children.
  • Cleaning tables.
  • Serving dessert.

Call John Hempstreet at 452-1973 or Val Harris at 453-6952 to sign up.

And ladies the UMM needs your help as well.  They plan to offer dessert for those who want it.  For an extra $1.00 they can choose from cake, pie, or cookies.

Your specialty dessert will bring them in.  That's a lot more money for missions.  40 volunteers help by making 1 cake, 2 pies, or enough cookies for 10 servings.  Call Dick Emry at 453-5122.

Call NOW.  And mark August 23rd on your calendar.

Bring your neighbor with you.

See you the 23rd.

Help Get The Family Shelter Ready For Use.

Make it happen for your city.

Ruth Lawson shared that Joe Tuckett works there pretty much every day.  And he's there many evenings as well.

If you've got some time jump in.  Call to make sure he's there.  Try his cell phone 1st... 252-9727.  If you can't get him call his home... 453-4988.  I understand he is a little hard of hearing.  He might not hear the phone.  In that case his wife could tell you if he's working.

Some of the work involves sanding floors, replacing windows etc.  The shelter is located at 320 E. Walnut.
MEET OUR NEW NIGHT CUSTODIAN

Our New Night Custodian

If you see a young man hustling around the church some evening with a broom in one hand and a package of paper towels in the other, that would be William our new Night Custodian.

Please welcome him!
HELP NEEDED IN THESE AREAS

  • Crisis Child Care needs more help to assist at least once a month for 4 hours.  Beginning May 5th the center will no longer run on Mondays but will be open from 8:00 A.M. to noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and Thursday afternoon from 1:00 - 5:00 P.M.(if needed).Contact Jeff Newton at Kokomo Urban Outreach 765-461-9618.
  • Web Site Team needs help. If you are interested in writing articles and updating to www.kokomograce.org; if you have a feel for the design of websites and the kinds of information that will be helpful in speaking to our community about Grace Church, and the ways we seek to follow Jesus, then contact one of our team:  Tim Garner, Val Harris, Randy Manning, Abram Stamper or Patrick May.
  • Senior High Institute is just around the corner and they still need help.  Check the sign up at the welcome center.
  • Shopping With Joy For Missions: Yellow bags are conveniently located in the Parlor and Mulberry St. entrance, so you can Shop With Joy for Local Missions.  As you shop weekly, think about picking up an item or two to help the following organizations.  Current needs include...
    • Kokomo Urban Outreach (Jeff Newton) - Peanut butter jars.
    • Open Arms (Kem Howell) - hair supplies like spray or gel, brushes, shampoos, conditioners.
    • CAM (Ruth Lawson) - Toilet paper and personal hygiene items like shampoo, bar soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, and deodorant.
    • Nesting Doves (Brenda Roberts) - toilet paper, diapers for newborns, laundry detergent... regular or baby friendly.

Bring items to the parlor area in the yellow bag.  The Mission Ministry Team will then distribute these to the different groups each month.
