How was Torah received at Sinai? Most believe
the myth that HaShem magically appeared and
that everybody heard Him speak the Ten
Commandments with a thundering, bellicose
voice. Well, this is not what the Torah text
says, nor is this fantasy taught by our
Sages. Rather, RaMBaM and latter Rabbeynu
Bayha reveal something to us rather profound.
They state that at Sinai HaShem did indeed
speak and the nation did indeed hear, but
what was spoken was not a Voice speaking
words. These Sages state that the Voice of
G-d that spoke at Sinai was just this, a
Voice. No words were spoken. The Voice went
forth without being broken up into words. In
essence all the people heard was a large Sound.
How then were the commandments heard? These
Sages said that while the ears of the people
heard the Great Sound, i.e., the Voice, their
minds heard within that Sound the words.
Their ears heard the Voice, their minds heard
the Words. In essence, the Torah was
transmitted to Benei Yisrael telepathically.
The communication was a Mind-to-mind
communication. This also explains a Midrash
that states that the wicked who stood at
Sinai claimed that all they heard was
thunder. Their ears heard the Sound/Voice as
did everyone else, but because they were not
telepathically connected to HaShem; they
could not hear His Words.
As it was at Matan Torah so today
nothing has changed. Unless one has
essentially a psychic telepathic connection
with Heaven, one is incapable of hearing and
receiving Living Torah.
Prayer is the way we communicate with Heaven.
Yet, prayer is not so much the words that
one recites, but rather the Kavana (intent)
within them. This Kavana/intent is what is
in one's heart and mind when one prays.
Thought alone is not enough; every mind is
full of multiple thoughts with none of them
having any real passion. Yet, when we focus
on a thought with passion we energize it with
life-force (psychic) energy and enable it to
travel beyond the limitations of our
individual minds, through dimensional portals
into higher realms that we call Heaven.
There the energized thought-forms are
magnetically drawn to other similar forces
which together combine to create a stronger
more able force to ascend through even higher
dimensional planes. Without this there is no
prayer.
Real prayer is the first step in what we
today call meditation. It is a full mind
experience using more the intuitive, visual
side of the mind than the intellectual, audio
side. Although both are used, emphasis must
be placed on the one side more than the
other. Prayer is not so much what you say,
but rather what goes "in to" what you say.
Topics of this nature; how to pray and how to
meditate will be covered in my new 4-part
mini-course entitled: BASIC MEDITATIONS -
TORAH STYLE beginning this Tuesday, live at
1:15 p.m. PDT. The cost of this course will
be $60.00. Recordings will be available
online for registered students. Due to the
important nature of this material, I also
plan to make the lessons available in MP3
format for the general public, but for a
slightly higher fee than those who register
for the course in whole.
f you want your prayers to be heard, then you
need to learn how to pray. As we say, "talk
is cheap." Prayer without Kavana/intent is
equally cheap.
Hey! They're your prayers! It's your
life! Choose wisely what you want - and what
it is you really want to accomplish! I hope
to see you all on Tuesday. Shalom.
