Tikun 44

Bereshit (In the beginning), there within are two, there within is fire. About them is it written, "and G-d said, let there be lights in the firmament of Heaven" (Gen. 1:14). M'orot (lights) is written missing the letter Vav. This is the written Torah. What are M'orot (lights), this is the Oral Torah. And even though the word M'orot is written lacking, this is Lilith. Seventy faces there are to Torah and because of this there are M'orot (lights) in this place. Of this is it written, "for the mitzvah is a lamp and Torah is light" (Mishlei 6:23). This is the center column. About them is it written, "the big light will rule by day and the small light will rule by night" (Gen. 1:16).

From here is the commandment to do charity. The "great light" is the secret of the wealthy. The "small light" is the secret of the poor. As the moon borrows from the sun, for it has no light other than that which the sun gives it, so too does the Shekhina say, "lend to me and I will repay." Thus do human beings need to lend to the poor, in the same way do the stars and the constellations borrow from one another and the angels (too) borrow from one another. This is the secret of the matter that states, "and they receive from one another." Thus does the Shekhina, the holy Moon borrow from the Holy One, blessed be He and receive from Him. Of this is it written, "HaShem G-d is a sun and shield" (The. 84:12).

In this same way did Joshua receive from Moses. For the face of Moses is compared to the face of the sun and the face of Joshua to the face of the moon. Thus were all the prophets before [the face of] Moses, like the moon and stars before the sun. None of them have light other than from the Sun.

-----------------------------------------

Bereshit (In the beginning), there within are two, there within is fire.

Within the letters that spell Bereshit can be found the words Tarei (two) and Esh (fire).

About them is it written, "and G-d said, let there be lights in the firmament of Heaven" (Gen. 1:14).

As will be shown, the two fires are the two great lights in Heaven. These are the two general forms through which Torah materializes in this world, the Heavenly form (rigid-written) and the Earthly form (fluid-oral).

M'orot (lights) is written missing the letter Vav. This is the written Torah. What are M'orot (lights), this is the Oral Torah.

Torah as it is revealed here on Earth speaks to the realities on Earth, thus "it is not in the Heavens" (Deut. 30:12). Therefore, even the written Torah takes on a form for our world different than its true form in the dimension of its origins. There Torah is said to be written black fire on white fire. Here we only see the back forms and gaze upon the white and see nothing. This is the missing Vav spoken of here. Thus even the written and oral forms of this world are M'orot, lacking the Vav of Yetzirah and reveal only the black form of Asiyah.

This is the secret of the sacred feminine and why Shekhina and Halakha are both referred to in the feminine gender. Both receive from that above. Halakha is this world is fluid, flowing through space and time like a mighty river, ever changing, ever flowing, but never changing outside of itself and never flowing against its natural course. Halakha flows but never against itself. Those today who attempt to interpret Halakha against itself stop up its waters instead of maintaining its flow. One cannot damn up the living waters for too long before they explode forward in a mighty flood. Woe to those who have taken root downstream of the damned river of Halakha. For it is inevitable that they will be washed away.

And even though the word M'orot is written lacking, this is Lilith.

She is the dark side of Eve. Even to Torah there is the side of life and the side of death. One who comes to Torah with a sincere and open heart will always find life. One who comes to Torah without sincerity and with a closed mind and evil heart will always find death. Torah on Earth contains within it the permitted and prohibited, the holy and the unclean. This is the nature of the Two, the forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, Good and Evil. One who approaches with life finds life. One who approaches with death finds death. There is no secret here, nor any great wisdom. This is the pshat, simple face of the Torah.

Torah is Vav. When the Vav becomes Hey, Heaven is brought down to Earth. Like with Adam, this can be either a blessing of a curse. Torah on Earth thus contains both. We are given a choice, but we are commanded to choose life.

Beneath every surface there lies many things; many layers, many depths, each concealing their own secrets, each containing their own wonders. Only one who peels away the surface can penetrate beneath and explore the hidden depths of truth. Seventy is the number of the word Sod (secret). It is a poetic metaphor and must be respected for what it is and what it is not. Torah has no end, its depths will never be fully explored or grasped by any human at any time. This is its secret, this is its seventy.

Action is the body and Torah is the soul. One cannot have Torah without the proper performance of the Torah path. It is only natural for one to be what one is and not be what one is not. Thus for Israel it is only natural to walk the Torah path, this is why the path is called Halakha, which simply means, "the way to go."

One cannot walk the path in thought alone. One cannot merely think about eating and thereby have a full tummy. One cannot contemplate the path, never walk it and expect to end up at the destination. This contradicts reality and nature. Yet, how many have become confused and no longer know what is natural? How many today think but do not act, and whatever they do act is not the proper action. Thus they stay distant from G-d, distant from Torah, distant from nature and distant from themselves.

The center column brings balance. Without balance one can never stand stable. Torah restores balance. One who has balance has a piece of Torah. One who has no balance has no peace and has no Torah.

From here is the commandment to do charity. The "great light" is the secret of the wealthy. The "small light" is the secret of the poor.

Torah is always about giving. One must give in order to receive. There is no reception that is not Kabbalah, for Kabbalah means reception. This is why there can be no Kabbalah without Torah for how can one receive without first giving? One who gives is of the secret of the great light, the sun, Tiferet, Yetzirah. One who receives is of the secret of the lesser light, the moon, Malkhut, Asiyah. One is soul, the other is body; one is light the other is vessel. Both need one another; one cannot be complete without the other. This is the true nature of things. Yetzirah is the source of life, thus it is wealthy the secret of Vav. Asiyah is the receiver of life, thus it is poor, the secret of Dalet. Only together, the Vav (6) and Dalet (4) do we have ten. In ten is the completion of the supernal pattern of the Sefirot. This is the secret of the Afikomen, eaten only when already full.

As the moon borrows from the sun, for it has no light other than that which the sun gives it, so too does the Shekhina say, "lend to me and I will repay."

Moon is Asiyah, Sun is Yetzirah; their relationship is cyclical. The Sun shines its light onto the Moon and then the Moon must reciprocate. This is the great cycle of MAH and BEN, which is the cycle of MahD and MahN. Only when the seed of the Male combines with the seed of the Female does pregnancy begin. When our Asiyatic universe is so impregnated the resulting child born of such union is the promised Mashiah. Prior to his birth, the turmoil experienced in the universe is called the "birth pangs of the Mashiah." For his arrival ushers in a truly new universal order, it is truly a new birth for our universe.

Until such time comes, all that Asiyah has comes from Yetzirah. Asiyah is supposed to complete the circuit and maintain the cycle by returning a portion (1/10th) to Yetzirah, but often this is not the case. Thus the Shekhina, the Mother Presence of Life of Asiyah borrows on credit and take what is necessary to be maintained. However, due to the lack of full repayment, that which Asiyah receives is far less than what could be. This is what we call exile. Were it not for Yetzirah (ZA) giving to Asiyah (NOK, Shekhina) in an act of true altruistic kindness, our universe could not and would not survive. The love of a husband for his wife should never be underestimated.

Thus do human beings need to lend to the poor, in the same way do the stars and the constellations borrow from one another and the angels (too) borrow from one another. This is the secret of the matter that states, "and they receive from one another." Thus does the Shekhina, the holy Moon borrows from the Holy One, blessed be He and receive from Him. Of this is it written, "HaShem G-d is a sun and shield" (The. 84:12).

When we do our human share here on Earth we reflect the Heavenly pattern. Therefore there is no greater task for us to perform more than to help those in need. The greatest lending and charity we can extend to the poor is no mere gift of money or sustenance , but rather to provide them with the education and opportunity to no longer need to receive other than by the efforts of their own hands. This is Tikun (rectification). As the old saying goes, "give a man a fish and he eats for a day; teach a man how to fish and he eats for a life time."

In the higher realms, there are Watchers and Others some who are greater and some who are smaller. When in need even these entities turn towards one another for support, in whatever form their needs require. All things in the universe belong to the Holy One, blessed be He. All comes forth to us from Yetzirah. In the end there is no such thing as personal possessions. Ultimately all is owned by Heaven. Thus is HaShem called the "Koneh HaKol" (owner of all). One with wisdom therefore allocates what is necessary where it is most needed. The higher forces know this rule and live by it. Here on Earth we are allotted personal property as a concession to our lower status and consciousness. When the time is right and the "child" is born; he shall reveal to us a higher way, one similar to the path of the angels. This will be true in commerce as it will be in holiness.

In this same way did Joshua receive from Moses. For the face of Moses is compared to the face of the sun and the face of Joshua to the face of the moon. Thus were all the prophets before [the face of] Moses, like the moon and stars before the sun. None of them have light other than from the Sun.

Revelation can be compared to the passage of electricity along lines and circuits. Each has to be appropriately strong in order to channel the necessary current through it. If the current is too strong it can burn out the wires carrying it. Therefore the current must be toned down to meet the capacity of the carrier. This is a basic law of physics; it is only natural. As this is true with the natural passage of electrical energy, so it is with the passage of psychic energy.

Moses was taken in Heaven and there he was transformed physiologically. He was changed inside and out. Even his skin glowed from a radiation that we today cannot define. His physical brain was also altered, enabling him access to Yetziratic reality and to even higher dimensional planes of existence. Moses became an independent source of light and enlightenment. He became the Earthly conduit through which the Yetziratic would enter into the Asiyatic. While on Sinai, Moses received enough Light for the entire nation, for his present generation and for all generations to come. All later prophecy and revelations would flow through his. Moses was the conduit; as such he is compared with the sun.

Thus we say that since Moses no other prophet has arisen in Israel who can achieve his stature. So much is Moses the conduit that the Torah is called after his name, the Torah of Moses. Only through the channel of Torah can one have access to the Giver of Torah. This is a natural truth, it cannot be denied.
