"A person will be praised according to
his mind, but the perverted heart will bring
disgrace." Proverbs 12:8
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and so
is the intelligence of one's mind.
That which truly brings one honor above all
other things is one's ability of clear and
lucid thinking.
One does not have to be a scholar, nor does
one have to be a professor. How many things
one can memorize does not define one's level
of knowledge.
True knowledge comes from the place where the
perceiving mind merges with the intuitive
heart. True knowledge and intelligence must
be one. For one without the other leaves
both incomplete and leaves one lacking.
We are commanded to place the Words of Torah
upon our hearts. How does one take the
Source of Life and place it upon the Source
of Living? This cannot be done by any mere
physical act alone.
In order for one to bond Torah with heart and
heart with Torah one must do more than raise
one's hand; one must raise one's consciousness.
One raises one's consciousness when one
learns to see the greater world with greater
eyes. The first vision of the greater world
makes one realize that they are not the
world's center. The first acquisition of
true intelligence where mind and heart merge
is the realization that there is more to life
and more to living than merely fulfilling my
own desires and pleasures.
I am only a small part of a greater whole. I
find myself, my true identity and my destiny
only when I look beyond myself and see where
and how I fit into the greater scheme of
things. This is true knowledge and wisdom.
When I see how I am one with Torah and how
Torah is the universe, then I see myself as
being the agent, the messenger, the servant
and the chariot. I carry within me the
Simplicity and Source of Life; I bare it like
a torch. I shine its Light even into the
darkest of places, even into the clouded
minds and confused hearts of others.
In this there is praise, for praise is the
relief and gratitude of the blind that are
given Light enabling them to see. One who
brings Light, brings true knowledge; true
knowledge cultivates intelligence, the merger
of the clear mind and the open, pure heart.
One's who allow the heart to become perverted
will forever live without Light. For Light
shines first from the heart; only then does
it shine into the mind. A pure heart will
bring forth a clear mind. This is the Way of
Heaven; its direction and flow cannot be
reversed.
Place these words upon your hearts and allow
the transformation to arise from within. The
pure heart will clear the most clouded of
minds. The pure heart will bind that which
is most broken.
Why bring upon yourself further disgrace?
Why allow yourself further perversion? The
heart is the center of all. It is the
beginning and the end of Torah. All is found
within, from its first letter Bet to its last
letter Lamed. From beginning to end and from
end to beginning, both are the same; both
spell Lamed Bet, heart.
Know the pure heart and you will know the
true Torah. Only in this is true knowledge;
only in this is proper intelligence.
You are not defined by what you know; rather,
you are known by what you do.
Uniting the clear mind with the pure heart
leads to proper action. This is the union of
Heaven and Earth. This is the way of repair.
This is the Path of Torah and the destiny of
ever living soul, now and tomorrow.
