Is there anything more predictable in a newsletter than the "Letter from the President?"  As PR professionals, can we do any better?

Of course we can!  As our chapter's Communications Committee pulls together ideas on how we can raise the chapter's profile both within and outside our profession, ideas for improving the Chapter's newsletter certainly is one of our highest priorities.  So, instead of hearing from me every month in a President's Letter, we're opening this column to chapter members who have something to say, an idea to share, or an opinion to advance.  All we ask is that it be interesting, informative, and have some connection to the PR and broader communications industry.

I have great faith that each of you, as the savvy communicators I know you are, will provide contributions to this space that will make for sparkling reading.  If you have a 250-word column you'd like to contribute, please send it to our chapter newsletter Czar (why should the Obama Administration have all the Czars?), Brittany Gonzalez, at bgonzalez@landaupr.com.

-Organ Donation & the Death of a Public Figure

Attendees walk away with the ability to identify the planning and process necessary to execute a proactive public health campaign, manage a reactive public health event and/or crisis, and know the resources available locally to help in these situations, and apply the "hindsight is 20/20" learnings from real-life, high profile events

February Promotion

This February we will be waiving the $65 initiation fee for new members. New tools including flyer template, email message, social media messages and power point slide are currently available online. Website banners will be uploaded shortly.  For most members this is the biggest savings of the year!  Please tell all of your prospects about this great opportunity.  From National we will be posting this on all social media channels, create a face-book event and email prospects.

To make this a little more fun we will be awarding one free PRSA membership to be used as an incentive (raffle etc) for the Chapters that secure the most new members. As usual awards will be based off highest percentage of new members for your Chapter size (Boutique, small, medium and large).

You can download all tools on the Chapter Leadership page.

March/April Promotion

The March/April promotion is receive free Chapter dues when you sign up for National. For this promotion we need your help. For our tools, we would love testimonials about how being a part of the PRSA community has helped you in your career. Please email me and let me know, we will be adding these testimonials to our website and materials.

We will have the tools ready by the third week of February. Also we will be rolling out 5x7 postcards instead of flyers. Thank you Las Vegas Chapter for this great suggestion. Now you can either hand out the oversized cards at meetings or mail them to your prospects!
