A Very Different PRSA - Next Month!?
Rick Batyko headshot

Many of you may not be aware that our professional association is three weeks away from seeking its national assembly's vote to dramatically change PRSA.

For the past three years, the organization has been working on a new set of bylaws.  This is no ordinary rewrite - the changes proposed will fundamentally redefine our national association.

Some examples:

1) The committee proposing the new bylaws wishes to broaden the definition of a member of PRSA to include individuals involved in social media, strategic planning, marketing, business development, etc.
2) The committee wishes to do away with the geographic national board representation model, meaning all board members will be "at-large." Currently, each of PRSA's districts is allotted a board member.
3) All board members will be elected by the full membership, not by the delegates at the national assembly as is currently the case.  There are a number of other key changes.

Your Greater Cleveland Chapter board is taking all of these recommendations under advisement and will instruct its assembly delegates on how to cast our Chapter's votes.  You are invited to offer your opinion.  To see a brief PowerPoint of the recommendations, go to the national association's Web site, log into MemberNet and visit
http://www.prsa.org/aboutUs/Bylaws/BylawPresentation.pdf. Please send you thoughts to me at rbatyko@gcpartnership.com and I'll share your views with the board.
