Let's start with the obvious: Public relations challenges appear on a regular basis in any company, organization, institution or firm.  Those fortunate enough to have public relations support in-house or contracted have an edge in managing those challenges.

Just as obvious, there's a good chance other PR professionals have addressed the challenges we face today.  Yet, we often forget that we have resources provided to us by our peers and presented to us through PRSA to guide us along the way.  This letter is dedicated to reconnecting you with the information readily available to our members.

First, let's visit the PRSA Resources page HERE.  Just like that, you're well on your way to accessing extensive resources.  Try the PRC Search function and get instant access to knowledge in dozens of practice areas, industries and communication channels - much of it free to members.

Need a PR consultant or a case history or an in-depth book on strategy to help you with a challenge?  Maybe you just want to be current on the latest news from the field.  It's all there.

Are you new to the field or in need of a refresher?  PRSA provides a free "Quick Start" Web-based training program HERE.

Sometimes we need to blaze the trail, but sometimes it's okay to follow the footprints of our peers.  Remember PRSA is here to help.

Deadline approaching for PRSA awards

The nomination deadline for PRSA's Individual Awards is July 17, 2009. Don't miss this opportunity to nominate leaders in the profession whom you feel should be recognized by PRSA. Through its Individual Awards program, PRSA annually recognizes individuals in five categories who, during the course of their careers, have made outstanding contributions to the profession. Candidates are reviewed and scored by the Honors & Awards Committee according to the judging criteria. Awards are given in a particular category only if a nominee meets the stated criteria as set forth by the program.
