I need your vote
Please take a few seconds and cast your vote in favor or against a resolution your PRSA Greater Cleveland Chapter's board has passed. Vote here: http://bit.ly/FklRU
The resolution calls for the creation of a Vice President for Communications as an addition to the board's Executive Committee. This change requires a revision to our bylaws which can only be made with 51% of the members casting their votes.
As currently stated, the bylaws call for a board Executive Committee made up of the President, the President-Elect, the vice presidents of Members and Programs, and a Treasurer and Secretary.
On philosophical grounds alone, as a professional communications organization, we should have a Vice President for Communications on the Executive Committee. Beyond the philosophical, the chapter's demand for communications has greatly increased in the recent past, especially with the advent of social media vehicles. We see this trend continuing into the future, so we would like to elevate the role to give it the appropriate level of support and strategic execution.
You may view the resolution at http://bit.ly/4gKoUp. This change will not increase the number of board members serving the chapter; it will simply add another position at the executive level that will be drawn from our existing board ranks.
I would appreciate your vote on this resolution and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about this change. Rick Batyko, APR President, PRSA Greater Cleveland | |

Beginning with the Enron scandal in 2001 and continuing to the present-day fiascos of Wall Street's largest financial institutions, the oughts have been a decade of ought nots. An insurance company's annual report a few years back featuring a two-page photographic spread of an 82-year-old nude man lying on his back is a sign of these times: Bare all. Investors and others are demanding from CEOs the naked truth. Rebuilding the trust that has eroded in all institutions is needed today more than ever, and on the front lines of this emergency relief effort are public relations professionals.
