Chevron Announces New Premium Hydraulic Oils That Deliver Fuel Costs Savings and Enhanced Productivity

Chevron Lubricants introduced three new premium hydraulic oils at MINExpo in Las Vegas, NV. Clarity® Synthetic Hydraulic Oil AW, Rando® HDZ and Rando® HD Premium Oil MV offer multi viscosity or high viscosity index (VI) formulations that deliver fuel cost savings and increases in productivity when compared to conventional monogrades. The new premium hydraulic oils feature improved oxidation and shear stability-versus conventional monogrades-which deliver robust protection to hydraulic pumps.

Chevron says, Clarity Synthetic Hydraulic Oil AW (ISO 32, 46, 68), provides excellent performance in low temperature climate, and is designed to give maximum protection to both mobile and stationary vane-, piston-, and gear-type hydraulic pumps in high-performance applications as well as in environmentally sensitive areas. The oil has a high viscosity index to improve hydraulic response time and increase operating temperature range. In field trials, Clarity Synthetic Hydraulic Oil AW has proven to reduce fuel consumption by improving overall hydraulic pump efficiency by up to 8 percent. By improving pump efficiency, it also showed a potential gain of 5-25 percent increased productivity depending on usage environment.

Whereas the ink speaking about the advantages of Clarity Synthetic Hydraulic Oil is interesting stuff, Edgar Hansen, deck boss and chief engineer of the fishing vessel Northwestern (featured on the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch")
brings it to life on Youtube.

Universal Lubricants Partners with Interstate Distributor Company
  A Top 100 For-Hire Carrier Now Uses ECO ULTRA®

Universal Lubricants® (UL), a manufacturer and distributor of premium lubricants, announced today a business partnership with Interstate Distributor Company (IDC). Under the agreement, IDC has converted its trucking fleet of over 1,300 units to the ECO ULTRA® engine oil line. IDC's fleet features state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient technologies that minimize environmental impacts while also maximizing economic benefits to the company. IDC selected ECO ULTRA because it helps address both priorities.

ECO ULTRA is an American Petroleum Institute (API) licensed line of automotive and industrial lubricants that rely on used oil as feedstock to its re-refinery that produces top quality sustainable base oil. ECO ULTRA meets Original Equipment Manufacturers' (OEM) specifications and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) requirements. It's increasingly being selected as the motor oil of choice for a growing number of transportation fleets across the country.

"IDC is approaching its 80th anniversary, and today our goal is to be not just one of the oldest trucking companies in America, but also the best trucking company in America," said Mark Forbes, IDC's fleet procurement manager. "We're renewing our focus on doing what's best for our drivers, the environment and the communities we drive through and serve. And so, after IDC's independent testing showed that ECO ULTRA offers optimal engine protection, along with the clear environmental benefits that come from using re-refined oil, we will rely on it to lubricate our new tractors--a significant capital investment. ECO ULTRA is a part of IDC's plan to make our green trucks even greener."

"IDC has an admirable vision of operational excellence," said John Wesley, UL's chief executive officer. "For example, the decision to use ECO ULTRA in its fleet will deliver significant benefits. With each tractor's average 12 gallon oil change using ECO ULTRA, IDC will save America from needing to import or extract 24 barrels of crude oil for the manufacture of lubricants. On its own, that's a significant difference. But as a leading transportation provider, IDC's decision to opt for energy conservation and performance choices will have a ripple effect that spreads throughout the trucking industry. Imagine the national impact as trucking fleets across the country see the strategic, economic, energy conservation and environmental protection value of following IDC's example."

PQIA Says it's Time to "Stop the Slop"

In a Call to Action, the Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) Puts its Foot Down on Harmful Engine Oils Sold in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The Petroleum Quality Institute of America completed a tour collecting engine oils and transmission fluid samples in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. Whereas the results of its testing will be published in a few weeks, PQIA says it feels a "sense of urgency to advise consumers about the proliferation of engine oils on the shelves in these states that can cause serious harm to your engine."

In an open letter to the Attorney Generals in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the movers and shakers in consumer affairs, the big wigs at the Chicago Sun Times, the Journal Sentinel, the ABC 7 i-team, WMTV, 620 WTMJ, Newsradio 950, WKOW, and other media outlets, PQIA asks for help to "Stop the Slop" from being sold to consumers.
