Advanced Lubrication Specialties Also Announces an Increase

Due to an editing error, yesterday's edition of Jobbers World misstated that Advanced Lubrication Specialties announced it will increase the price of its finished lubricants $0.15 to $0.25 a gallon effective April 24, 2010.

Whereas the increase and effective date reported in yesterday's edition of JobbersWorld are correct, the increase applies to ALS's base oils, not its finished lubricants.

PQIA Offers to Test Brands on Request

As a follow-up to the story in yesterday's edition of JobbersWorld about the Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) testing of private label brands, it is important to note that in addition to randomly selecting brands for testing, PQIA also tests brands by request.

According to PQIA, "Many oil manufacturers are proud of the quality of their products and are anxious to have their oils sampled, tested, and data published on PQIA's website without waiting for their oil to be randomly selected." To assure all manufacturers have an opportunity to have their brands tested and results posted on the PQIA website, PQIA says "It will test any specific oil upon request by the oil's manufacturer provided the manufacturer pays for the sample collection, testing, and administrative costs."

PQIA adds that "All oils tested are collected from the field by PQIA, independently tested, and all results are published without influence from the manufacturer of the brand, PQIA sponsors, or any other industry party."
