At Home in Maryland
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will be setting up a company in the United States called ELTA North America. The new company will be based in Maryland. Read more about the Trendlines connection with Maryland.
Israel and Texas Pursuing Joint Ventures
According to Israel 21C, "two major collaborative agreements" came out of the mission led by San Antonio, Texas, Mayor Julian Castro. In August, Mayor Castro brought a group of business leaders and academics to Israel to pursue business opportunities. Read more about Trendlines' involvement in this collaboration.

Trendlines Group CEO To Speak at Alternative Finance Conference (December 12-13), Tel Aviv
Todd Dollinger, CEO of The Trendlines Group, will be one of the speakers at DealFlow Media's Alternative Finance Conference, which will take place December 12-13 at The Dan Hotel in Tel Aviv. The Conference is a forum for discussion of unconventional sources of capital for Israeli companies. This event offers education and unprecedented networking opportunities with U.S. investors, fund managers, bankers, institutional investors, and corporate attorneys.
Featured discussions during the two-day conference include alternative public offerings, PIPEs (Private Investment in Public Equity), registered directs, Confidentially Marketed Public Offerings (CMPOs), SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies), and alternatives to venture capital and structured debt investments.

Omer Schalit Cohen, Misgav's VP Business Development, is among the invited speakers at this year's Academy of Innovation, to be held on December 4 at the David InterContinental Hotel in Tel Aviv. The seminar's focus is on "Expanding Cardiovascular Therapies: The Development of New Medical Devices." Omer will address "From Idea to a Company -- Technology Incubators in Today's Medical Device Market." The Academy of Innovation is dedicated to education and training about the process of biodesign innovations. The Academy of Innovation Day is part of the Innovations in Cardiovascular Interventions 2011 meeting.
2nd Medinnovation Course to Begin December 5
StarTAU (The Tel Aviv University Entrepreneurship Center) and Trendlines' Misgav Venture Accelerator will launch the second offering of our MedInnovation course on December 5, 2011. This follows the success of the first class, offered last summer, which concluded with positive feedback received from those who participated.
The purpose of the course, which is co-sponsored by The Trendlines Group, is to help entrepreneurs better understand and navigate the steps involved in bringing a medical idea from concept to realization. The course covers all different aspects of building a medical device start-up and includes lectures from leading industry people talking about their relevant area of expertise.
Maryland-Israel Development Center (MIDC) Speaker Series
The Maryland-Israel Development Center (MIDC) recently announced its 2011-2012 Speaker Series, "Business vs. Politics: An Israeli Insider's Perspective." The series of three networking events features top keynote speakers. The first session was held in early November. Gil Hoffman, chief political correspondent of The Jerusalem Post, kicked off this event. Orna Berry, former chief scientist of Israel, and now VP and manager of Center of Excellence for Israel, will be the featured speaker at the January 12, 2012 event. John Jacobs, Nasdaq's EVP financial products and marketing will speak at the 29 March 29, 2012 event. See the MIDC announcement for details.

Trendlines is preparing for its 2nd U.S. Investor Road Show. Welcome to Our Newest Company: IntelliBreathe IntelliBreathe is developing next-generation technology for the treatment of breathing disorders, especially sleep apnea. This common sleep disorder is characterized by intermittent cessation of breathing, which causes a temporary lack of oxygen.
The IntelliBreathe technology is based on a small, lightweight, and tightly controlled system using a new concept and device for the delivery of air. It responds instantaneously only when it detects an apneic episode. The Company's CEO is Prof. Oren Zinder. |

Headway Raises $500,000
Headway, a Misgav Venture Accelerator company, recently completed a raise of $500,000. The company is now in the advanced stages of developing Occiflex™, its unique ergonomic medical device for the treatment of chronic head and neck pain. The Company expects revenues within a year. Oved-Govi & Co. led the investment round and provided strategic consulting and financial advice.
Last year, Headway signed a €2 million cooperation agreement with Dutch company Enraf-Nonius B.V., one of the world's leading developers and distributors of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy devices. Under the agreement, the two companies will develop an advanced version of Occiflex. Conclusion of development and clinical trials is expected during 2012.
