5 Strategies for a Perfect '10
Save the Dates
Greetings!

It's the holiday season and, for many of us, that means rushing around town to pick up just one more present, running home to change clothes and head out to the homes of family and friends, decorating the house in your spare time, going back to the grocery store for the 4th time to pick up that essential ingredient for your family's favorite pie, and wondering how you'll ever get any of this all done in time for the company that's coming.  Whew!  No wonder Scrooge screamed out, "Bah! Humbug!"

In the hustle and bustle of the season, it can be so easy to lose sight of why we celebrate in the first place.  It is my sincere wish that you and yours use this time together to witness the joy, wonder and beauty that the holiday season brings to us.  Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  May 2010 be the year of possibilities for you to turn your dreams into realities!
Holiday Traditions Around The World

Unless you're Rick Steves who gets paid to travel around the globe to
experience the traditions of other countries and cultures, then you may not have had the opportunity to learn what happens in other parts of the world at Christmastime.  To test your knowledge of Christmas traditions in countries around the world, match the following traditions with the correct country:

1. Families place beautiful lanterns, flowers and red paper chains to symbolize happiness, on a "tree of light"

2. Dressed as St. Lucia, the eldest daughter in each family serves coffee and treats to each family member in their own bedroom.

 3.  "Carols by Candlelight" is the most cherished tradition here where people come together to light candles and sing outside under the stars.

4.  Most countrymen don a traditional  shamma (similar to a white toga) and head for church at 4:00 in the morning.

5.  Children leave their shoes on the hearth for Pere Noel to fill them with gifts.

Your  Choices:  France, Sweden, Ethiopia, China, and Australia.

Thoughts to Ponder

"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.  Let us move forward with strong and active faith."
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1944

"If this nation is to be wise as well as strong, if we are to achieve our destiny, then we need more new ideas for more wise men reading more good books."
Senator John F. Kennedy, 1960

"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it."
Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1837

"This above all:  to thine own self be true and it must follow, as the night, on day, thou canst not then be false to any man."
William Shakespeare, Hamlet

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men."
The Bible, Luke 2:14

5 Strategies
  for a
Perfect '10

 1.  Discover your genius.
Each of us has unique gifts, talents and contributions to offer the world.  When we
(re)discover our authentic self, we gain a path to clarity and a life of fulfillment.

2.  Learn more - READ.
Enough said.  Pick up a book and read it. Then pick up another one, and another one.  When you stop learning, you stop growing.

 3.  Innovate with excellence.
To succeed in this new economy, we must learn to do things differently and better than anyone else.  What can you add?  What can you improve?

4.  Play like a child again.
Ideas spring forth when we are relaxed and happily enjoying the moment. Physical movement exercises the body and the mind.

5.  Volunteer.
Contribute to making this world a better place.  Offer your time, your ideas, your resources to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
