This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
K-Vintners and Charles Smith Wines, Washington

Located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla (Washington State), Charles Smith opened his first winery, K Vintners, in December of 2001.
The first release,1999 K Syrah from Walla Walla Valley, initiated the style of winemaking that Charles continues today: small lots of single vineyard Syrahs and field blends of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo and Viognier, all of which are hand-picked, foot-stomped, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed.

In 2006, Charles Smith created Charles Smith Wines:
The Modernist Project, which centers around the trend that most people generally consume wine without delay. The intent is to create wines to be enjoyed now, but with typicity of variety (Merlot that tastes like Merlot) and true to the place of origin. The wines are full of flavor, balanced, and approachable.

  •  2010 K- Vintners, Proprietary Red, "The Creator", Old Stones Vineyard, Walla Walla Valley, Not Yet Reviewed; $62.00: Bow down. Single vineyard, low yield, complex, and very individual. Tapenade, herbaceous (dried herbs), menthol, pencil shavings and undergrowth. With an abundance of stucture and true sophistication. You'll say hallelujah, he's done it again. - Charles Smith

  • 2009 Charles Smith Wines, Proprietary Red, King Coal, Stoneridge Vineyard, Washington State, 94 pts., Wine Spectator; $110.00: This fantastic co-ferment leads with cabernet all the way. In an instant you recognize Stoneridge Vineyard in this wine. With its savory herb and pipe tobacco aromas, to the currants, lavender, and black olive, it comes together so harmonious and regal it can only be related to the Royal City.  -Charles Smith

  • 2009 Charles Smith Wines, Syrah, Royal City, Stoneridge Vineyard, Royal Slope, Columbia Valley, 97 pts., Wine Spectator; $150.00: Man this is it! Wow! You name it, it's got it. Hickory, black cherry, Venezuelan chocolate, pie crust, camphor, beeswax and suede, It is complex. It is elegant. It is Royal City. -Charles Smith

For Your Appreciation: Thank You!

Pay one penny for one bottle of Clos LaChance Sauvignon Blanc upon spending over $100.00 on any wine purchase. Normal retail price is $15.00 per bottle. Limit one purchase per family per day.

A blend of 82 percent sauvignon blanc, 15 percent semillon and 3 percent muscat blanc, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks except for 16 percent that goes into neutral French oak barrels. This is a stupendously lively and refreshing sauvignon blanc that bursts with a flurry of grapefruit and lime peel, dried thyme and fennel and hints of grass and hay. Flavors lean toward juicy pear infused with tangerine and hay and a touch of leafy fig, all ensconced in an attractive texture that neatly balances crisp acidity with moderate lushness. A trace of grapefruit bitterness makes for a bracing finish. Here's a clean, bright, tasty sauvignon blanc that will make pleasant quaffing this Spring and Summer, either as aperitif or with such dishes as grilled shrimp or ceviche.

Normal retail price is $15.00 per bottle, but you only pay one penny upon spending $100.00 on any wine purchase.

Limit one wine purchase per family per day.

Thank you for your business!

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
