This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!

  • 2006 Bernardus, Marinus, Estate, Carmel Valley, Was $28.00, Now $22.00:  In the glass, our 2006 Marinus exhibits a beautiful deep crimson color. Aromas express spicy red fruits accented by notes of dried herbs and subtle toasted oak. The flavors of black cherry and spice provide a delicious drinking experience even in its youth, though this vintage will age gracefully for several years to come.
  • 2008 Jordan, Alexander Valley; $53.00: Winemaker notes: "Jordan 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon has a smooth, silky structure that showcases the delicacy of the vintage. Elegant aromas of cherries and plums open to a soft, silky mouthfeel boasting a spectrum of red and black fruit flavors with a hint of spicy oak. Enjoy now or cellar through 2020."
  • 2007 Stonestreet, Monument Ridge, Alexander Valley, 96 pts., Parker; $49.00: "The biggest production cuvee, the inky/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Monument Ridge is fabulous. Composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc aged 16 months in 76% new French oak casks, it reveals abundant aromas of creme de cassis, graphite, ink, licorice, and fruitcake in a full-bodied, Pauillac-like style with plenty of sweet tannin."
  • 2007 Anakota, Helena Dakota Vineyard, Sonoma, 94+ pts., Parker; $55.00: "Slightly softer, but still structured, meaty effort with impressive levels of black cherries, black currants and a steely, crushed rock-like minerality. Full-bodied, tannic and deep, it offers pure floral, concentrated fruit and beautiful purity, symmetry and balance.
  • 2007 Cain Vineyard, Cain Five, Spring Mountain, Napa Valley; $94.00: Cain makes some of the most classically-styled, age-worthy red wines in Califoria. They are not bawdy, voluptuous wines, but wines of grace and class. The 2007 Cain "Five" is the perfect example of this. From an incredible vintage where a lot of winemakers made flashy wines, this blend of 68% Cabernet, 16% Merot, 6% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabenet Franc shows remarkable restraint. Made entirely from fruit grown in the Cain Vineyard, the "Five" is balanced and rich, but still intense.
  • 2008 Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, 98+ pts. Parker; $100.00: Layers of dark fruit, flowers, licorice, spices and mint are beautifully woven together. With time in the glass the wine's striking inner perfume takes center stage. Tar, smoke, flowers, red berries and licorice are some of the nuances that reappear on the finish, while gorgeous aromatics are laced throughout.
  • 2009 Carter Cellars, Beckstoffer, To Kalon Vineyard, The Grand Daddy, 92 pts. Parker; $134.00: Immediately your eyes are drawn to the dark purple, crimson hued core and vibrancy of this wine. Aromas of crushed blackberries, Belgium chocolate, spice and anise emanate throughout the wine. On the palate a rush of lush fruit, ripe but firm tannin and fully integrated natural acidity form a base that easily allows the wine to flow into an enormously smooth mid palate.
  • 2008 Cliff Lede Vineyards, Poetry, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley, 93 pts. Parker; $160.00: Seductive aromas of raspberry mousse, violets, allspice and graphite emanate from the glass. The palate is a combination of power and finesse. Rich layers of chocolate and cassis develop quickly in the mid-palate supported by a classic Stags Leap minerality. Luscious, soft, rounded tannins extend into the lengthy finish.
  • 2006 Shafer Vineyards, Hillside Select, Napa Valley, 1.5 Litre, 98 pts. Wine & Spirits; $460.00: Dark garnet in color, this wine smells of deep, rich, black cherry, tobacco, and chocolate. In the mouth it is difficult not to swallow, with rich, juicy black cherry, cola, and dark, black plum fruit flavors that play against a background of very fine grained, smooth tannins. Oak is present, but wonderfully integrated into the wine, merging with the earthy notes that emerge on the very long finish. Powerful, but not at any moment heavy in the mouth. Outstanding. 14.9% alcohol.

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.

Limit one wine purchase per family per day.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
