Winemaker's Notes:

"The wine is light straw in color with subtle green highlights. This wine displays lifted passionfruit and white-fleshed nectarine aromatics, with grapefruit and subtle sweaty notes. The palate shows balance, with ripe passionfruit flavors and complex minerality balanced by a tight, fresh acidity. This is a vibrant and lively wine.

This wine is best enjoyed whilst it is young and exuberant. Serve slightly chilled on its own or with delicate white meat or seafood dishes."

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!

Sauvignon Blanc, The Perfect Arizona Summer Wine
  • 2011 Ferrari Carano, Fume Blanc, Sonoma County; $15.00: Winemaker's notes: Ferrari-Carano's 2011 Fumé Blanc has aromas of lime, kiwi, citrus, melon and a touch of grass complemented by flavors of grapefruit, lemon and lime with a mango and guava finish. Cool, stainless steel tank fermentation gives this wine a crisp freshness while the subtle oak character from barrel aging adds complexity and depth. Made with 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
  • 2010 Duckhorn Vineyards, Napa Valley, 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $28.00: The aromas are fresh and enticing with bright citrus layers supported by subtle undertones of papaya and green mango. On the palate, the tropical notes come to the forefront with rich, lush layers of guava, passion fruit and lychee, as well as hints of herbs and lemon zest.
  • 2011 Twomey Cellars, Napa Valley; $30.00: Winemaker's notes: Has as a light golden hay color with green edges. The aromatics burst forth with sweet custard apple, green melon and lemongrass notes accentuated by hints of fresh guava, candied pineapple, cream and brioche. On the palate, flavors of bright lime peel and citrus combine with hints of vanilla custard and grapefruit pith. The wine has ample weight on the mid-palate with a bright acid backbone supporting a creamy richness and notes of pie crust, leading to a clean crisp lingering finish.
  • 2010 Margerum, Sybarite, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, 91 pts., #82 Top 100, 2011 Wine Spectator; $25.00: This is real Sauvignon Blanc, crisp and clean; there are hints of melon, green grass, some fruit cocktail and a clear minerality on the nose.
  • 2010 Merry Edwards, Russian River Valley, 93 pts., California Grapevine; $44.00: This wine "struts its stuff' in a sophisticated and stylish fashion. The aroma is floral and mouthwatering, layered with ripe melon, peach and subtle mineral highlights. In the mouth, it is rich and seamlessly well balanced, kicking in a hint of grapefruit, citrus and pear on the lingering finish.
  • 2011 Rochioli, Estate, Russian River Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer; $44.00: "This wine is fifty-four percent from the original Sauvignon Blanc vineyard planted in 1959. thirty - six percent is from our twenty - six year old hillside vineyard and ten percent is from our newest planting of a very special and rare clone. Only 10 percent of this blend is barrel aged to add complexity and round texture. The rest is tank fermented to preserve its intense varietal character and firm acidity. 1790 cases were produced."
  • 2011 Pascal Jolivet, Sancerre, Loire Valley; $26.00: Pale and vibrant in color. The 2011 Pascal Jolivet Sancerre is fresh, clean and screaming with racy acidity. On the palate it is fresh and tightly wound; acidity is tempered by very subtle residual sugar; very clean; alive, racy, youthful. Overall, a dry and elegant wine.
  • 2011 Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre, Loire Valley; $28.00: Loads of limestone in the nose and mouth with rich citrus fruit and green pear elements, a thick yet crisp texture, and some major body from the limestone soils. Pair this Sauvignon Blanc with fresh oysters, jumbo shrimp cocktail, chunks of crabmeat and/or cooked white fish dishes. This is very complex and delicious, from one of the best producers in Sancerre.
  • 2010 Domaine Vacheron, Sancerre, Loire Valley; $29.00: Winemaker's notes: A vibrant, 100% organic/biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc from a mix of flint and chalk soils in the heart of Sancerre. Aromas suggest grapefruit zest and gunflint; in the mouth the wine is pure and fresh, with plenty of mineral energy and citrus flavors. Indispensable with fresh oysters or young goat cheese. The Vacheron family is one of the older and certainly most respected producers of organic wines in the Loire Valley.

For Your Appreciation: Thank You!

Pay one penny for one bottle of Chateau Bonnet, Bordeaux Blanc or Rouge upon spending over $100.00 on any wine purchase. Normal price is $14.00 per bottle.

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.

Limit one wine purchase per family per day.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
