of this Roussanne/Viognier bland we barrel fermented in neutral French Oak barrels. The resulting full bodied

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!

Pinot Noir
  • 2010 Byron, Santa Barbara County; Was $19.00, Now $16.00: This is a forward, lush, approachable wine. Dominated by dark berry, rose petal, plum and smoke, yet without losing the beautiful floral/mineral notes typical of Santa Barbara.
  • 2008 Robleon, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills; $45.00: Beautiful concentrated cherry and blackberry on the nose with hints of vanillin and spice. This wine opens on the palate with fresh fruit flavors of blackberry, cherry, and cola all lifted by a firm backbone of acid.  While the wine has an obvious origin in the Sta. Rita Hills, it exhibits an elegant silkiness that is seldom achieved from this region.
  • 2008 Fess Parker, Ashley's Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills, 91 pts., Parker; $49.00:  A dark ruby garnet color and aromas of cherry, raspberry, black tea, baking spices and vanilla, all set the stage for this elegant wine. Black cherry, ripe raspberry, nutmeg and wetstone with well integrated oak are highlighted by the hallmark acidity found in fruit from this cold climate vineyard.
  • 2010 MacPhail, Toulouse Vineyard, Anderson Valley; $50.00: Moderate purple color in the glass. A big-boned wine with flashy dark berry and black cherry fruit that is quite tasty. The nose displays primarily oak-driven aromas of toast, toffee and caramel.
  • 2009 Argyle, Reserve, Willamette Valley, 91 pts.; Was $40.00, Now $30.00: A 'reserve' bottling with the goods to back it up. Wine Spectator notes this release, 'Shows an earthy edge, but the vivid cherry and black tea flavors remain vibrant as they flow against a modest burr of tannins on the long, deftly balanced finish.' It's rare to find a wine that all the major critics agree is a winner, but that's just what we have here.
  • 2009 Bergstrom, de Lancellotti Vineyard, Chehalem Mountains, 94 pts.; $67.00: Moderate reddish-purple hue in the glass. Fruit on the nose with hints of brioche and cut flowers. Hi-tone red and black fruits with undertones of pomegranate, edible flowers and oak. Great purity of fruit, silky textured, with admirable elegance and harmony. Very good.
  • 2010 Rochioli, Estate, Russian River Valley, 92 pts., Parker; $86.00: "The majority of the grapes for this wine are from the Sweetwater Vineyard. The balance is from our many different vineyard sites, including the new planting of West Block. The wine possesses the typical Rochioli character and the classic Russian River Valley charm. Aged in French oak for 15 months, it displays a full body and silky texture finish with a firm and balanced structure."
  • July 4th PARTY WINE: 2009 Ken Wright Cellars, Shea Vineyards, 9 Litre Bottle, 92 pts., Tanzer; $780.00: "Bright ruby. Highly fragrant aromas of black raspberry, sassafras and potpourri, with a hint of musky herbs. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering deep candied red and dark berry flavors, zesty minerality and slow-mounting spiciness. Open-knit and fruit-driven but very fresh, finishing with excellent cling, subtle earthiness and persistent sweetness."

For Your Appreciation: Thank You!

Pay one penny for one bottle of Chateau Bonnet, Bordeaux Blanc or Rouge upon spending over $100.00 on any wine purchase. Normal price is $14.00 per bottle.

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.

Limit one wine purchase per family per day.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
