Chateau de Beaucastel

Second Wine of Chateau de Beaucastel, 90 pts., Parker, 90 pts., Wine Spectator, 91 pts., Tanzer, 91 pts., Wine Enthusiast. Was $40.00, Now $35.00 and Get the Second Bottle for $1.00

Review by Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #197 (Oct 2011), Rating 90, Drink 2011-2019: In total contrast, the 2009 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet red represents the essence of Provence in its notes of ground pepper, new saddle leather, lavender, kirsch, garrigue, and abundant red and black fruits. This complex, evolved, luscious red begs for a bloody grilled steak. With a creamy, medium to full-bodied texture, this gorgeous, complex, evolved wine should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May 12, 91 pts.: 30 % each grenache and mourvedre and 20% each syrah and cinsault: Full ruby, Intense, smoke and spice accented aromas of dark berries and cherry, along with powerful licorice and floral qualities. Broad, deeply pitched blackberry and cherry compote flavors stain the palate, showing surprising vivacity. Finishes with slow-mounting tannins and impressive persistence, leaving a licorice note behind.

Wine Spectator, Score: 90. Feb 29, 2012: This dark and alluring red delivers nicely layered cherry preserves and blackberry cobbler notes, backed by licorice snap and smoldering tobacco flavors on the lengthy finish. More polished and forward than usual, but this has the stuffing to cellar mid-term. Mourvedre, Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah.

Although young now, those with the patience to cellar this wine will be rewarded 1674 cases were produced.
  • 2009 Kongsgaard, The Judge, Napa Valley, 98+ pts., Parker; $229.00: Parker found that "the 2009 Judge reveals gorgeous aromas of crushed rock, unbuttered popcorn, white currants and white peaches. Dominated by minerality, this is a pure, full-bodied, beautifully perfumed Chardonnay."
  • 2009 Domaine Serene, Cote Sud Vineyard, Dundee Hills, 94 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $55.00: Immaculately clean and fresh, this enters the mouth with a pleasing lightness, displaying a mix of stone fruits and a streak of vanilla wafer running right through its core. It opens in the glass, adding muscle and depth, ultimately developing into a complex and persistent wine that simply refuses to quit.
  • 2010 Bergstrom, Sigrid, Willamette Valley; $88.00: This boisterous youngster has traditional yet multidimensional aromas of citrus blossoms, lime, peaches, spiced cream, vibrant yellow apple, oyster shell and pale honey. The youthful cut of this classic in the making is impressive now with intense flavors of citrus and stone fruits accented by tea-like qualities, while also displaying a rich texture with an almost creamy-dessert like flavor profile of pie crust and whipped cream. The finish is long and juicy with mouthwatering acidity and a mineral structure framed by sweet oak spice.

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
