Summer $1.00 Sale!
2007 DuMol, Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, 90 -93 pts., Parker; $65.00: 90 -93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2008. A blend of different vineyards, their 2007 Chardonnay Russian River might turn out to be one of the best Chardonnays they have made under this moniker. Crisp acids, beautiful lemon butter notes intermixed with brioche and orange/nectarine notes are all present in this full-bodied wine, with the oak pushed well into the background. This is a beauty that should drink nicely for 3-4 years.
2007 Freestone Vineyards, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 96 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; $55.00: The 2007 Freestone Chardonnay has all the minerality and terroir characteristics that the 2006 Chardonnay possessed, but with an added weight and purity that expresses all that we are trying to achieve at Freestone. The long, dry growing season yielded smaller than typical clusters and grapes, so juice yields were lower than expected overall for the 2007 vintage, resulting in wines with great concentration and precision. Steely, yet unctuous, this wine generously offers up aromas of smoked cedar, wet earth, honeysuckle and fresh tangerine, while on the palate it provides mineral-driven citrus, nectar, honey, and an acid structure that contributes power and persistencc.
Buy one bottle of the above and buy the same brand, second bottle for only $1.00. (This same purchase may be repeated) Net. No other discounts allowed.
All sales final. No returns or exchanges Offer good June 18th - June 24th

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
Failla
Grown, produced & bottled by Ehren Jordan Wine Cellars

- 2010 Chardonnay, Estate Vineyard, Sonoma Coast, 99 pts., Wine Enthusiast, Editor's Choice, $50.00, net, no discount: These grapes were whole-cluster pressed directly into a combination of French oak barrels, one third of which were new, and a concrete egg fermentor. Classic wet stone minerality on the nose has undercurrents of papaya and melon etched with ginger, honey and white pepper. The palate's pretty, floral quality and surprisingly soft round mouthfeel balance the crisp acidity. This is the wine for roast chicken and veggies and sea salt encrusted fingerling potatoes.
- 2009 Pinot Noir, Occidental Ridge, Sonoma Coast, 92 pts., Wine Spectator, $66.00: Shows aromas of lavender, violet, plum and dried berry before retreating into a trim, compact and elegant wine, with subtle mineral, chalk and damp wood flavors. Full-bodied, this is the kind of wine that needs time and should reward cellaring. Best from 2012 through 2020. 92 Points, James Laube, Wine Spectator 2011
- 2010 Pinot Noir, Keefer Ranch, Russian River Valley; $50.00: As always, the fruit was destemmed into open-topped fermenters and punched down twice-a-day, before aging sur-lie in French oak barrels, 1/3 new. Epitomizing the Russian River Valley "terroir ", the '10 Keefer carries the mantle of the highly-decorated '09 with dizzying aromas of baking spices, black current, sous-bois, licorice, and marzipan. Lush, silky texture and juicy fruit belie the structure of this wine's present tannins. We suggest mushroom risotto (think Chanterelles or Portobellos), and rich game bird pairings. Will age well for 7-10 years.

For Your Appreciation: Thank You!
Pay one penny for one bottle of Chateau Bonnet, Bordeaux Blanc or Rouge upon spending over $100.00 on any wine purchase. Normal price is $14.00 per bottle.
The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.
Limit one wine purchase per family per day.
Thank you for your business!

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
