Summer $1.00 Sale!

                      Spain
  • 2010 Mar de Frades, Albarino, Rias Baixas; Was $25.00, Now $17.00: Tasting Notes: Intense, bright and clean yellow with golden hues. Deep appealing macerated fruit (apricot, pineapple and passion fruit) with a wrapping background of balsamic notes. Powerful and fruity with good persistence and aromatic finish.
  • 2007 Ramon Bilbao, Crianza, Tempranillo, Rioja; Was $15.00, Now $12.00: Bright, deep, cherry-red. Intense aromas of ripe black berries to the nose accompanied with balsamic touches which are reminiscent of coconut and liquorice. It is fresh and pleasant in the mouth with a noticeable texture where the smokey and fruit assembled nuances reappear. Long and enfolding finish.
  • 2008 Ramon Bilbao, Crianza, Limited Edition, Rioja, Spain; Was $22.00, Now $19.00: Intense dark cherry-red with a garnet rim. Complex aromas to the nose, redolent of prunes in liqueur, ripe blackberries and fine, exotic woods (sandalwood). Elegant and voluptuous in the mouth, with considerable persistence and pleasant mineral finish. A powerful wine whose complexity will continue to grow over time. Drink now or cellar.

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
             Assorted Summer Reds
  • 2009 Chateau de Lascaux, Coteaux du Languedoc; $19.00: Appearance: Dark ruby bright and clear. Nose: Red fruits and black spices. Taste: Round and well balanced. Good concentration of licorice and raspberries and a luscious finish. Food & Wine Pairing: It is excellent with meat. Accolades: Wine Spectator - 88 Points.
  • 2010 Seghesio Family, Zinfandel, Sonoma County, 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $24.00: "Our family roots are firmly planted in Zinfandel as our Great-Grandfather, Edoardo Seghesio, first planted Zinfandel on our Alexander Valley Home Ranch in 1895. Today, we share his passion as we farm over 400 acres of estate Zinfandel in the worlds best growing regions for the grape -- Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. This wine combines sites that have produced Zinfandel for over a century with newer sites that utilize proprietary clones and the most advanced viticultural practices."
  • 2010 Ridge Vineyards, Zinfandel, Geyserville, Sonoma County, 93 pts., Parker; $38.00: Intense ruby color. Ripe cherry and plum, peppermint, clove barrel spice, gravel/earth. Well-defined stone fruits on entry, medium- to full-bodied, coated tannins; a long finish with refreshing acidity. -Eric Baugher (2/11)
  • 2009 Shafer, Vineyards, Merlot, Napa Valley, 90-92 pts., Parker; $53.00: "Supple, elegant and beautifully focused, with aromas of red currant and toasty vanilla that lead to ripe but sleek and layered flavors of black cherry, cinnamon and black tea. Tannins sneak in on the finish. Drink now through 2017."
  • 2009 Duckhorn Vineyards, Merlot, Napa Valley; $60.00: This wine displays all of the benefits of slow, even ripening during a mild growing season. Though there is fullness and a lush character to this Merlot, there is also restraint and elegance. Promising aromas of cherry, red plum, raspberry, and dried herbs lead to a clean fresh entry with impeccably balanced acidity supporting intense red fruit flavors of cranberry, plum and raspberry. Round, supple tannins provide an enticing framework for the flavors and contribute to a lingering finish.
  • 2005 Telmo Rodriguez, Matallan, Ribera Del Duero, 94+ pts.; Was $145.00, Now $99.00:  With Matallana, you must pay for your pleasure. But pleasurable it is. The nose is a splendid blend of licorice, baking spices, cassis and black plum. The approach is neither quiet nor loud, but well-spoken. It pumps forth huge black cherry and plum fruit, but offsets any raw size with tobacco, herb, coffee and other subtleties. A touch hard now but should soften with a couple of years aging. Best from 2010-2013.
  • 2008 Clos I Terrasses, Clos Erasmus, Priorat, 99 pts., Parker; $189.00: One of the greatest wines of Spain. Maximum representation of Priorat.
Daphne Glorian is the owner and winemaker, a true artisan of wine, which expresses her love for the land in her wine. Made with a very meticulous elaboration, with careful selection of grapes and making a perfect blend of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon and with a little bit of Syrah to round the coupage.
  • 2009 Chapoutier, Banyuls, Vins Doux Naturels, Languedoc, Roussillon, 90 pts, Parker; Was $42.00, Now $29.00: Colour : from garnet red to mahogany according to the age. Nose : powerful, balancing between black fruits and stewed fruits subtly brought by cocoa aromas. Mouth : sumptuous balance between the solar strength of the wine and the fineness of its tannins. It has a great persistency with sweetness which develops greedily.

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
