Spring $1.00 Sale!
Domaine William Fevre Chablis:
- 2008 Vaillons, Premier Cru, 93 pts., Wine Spectator; $44.00: "Clean, pure and refreshing, with lemon, apple and mineral flavors that mesh seamlessly with the incisive structures. Finishes with precision and flintiness. Best from 2011 through 2021."
- 2006 Fourchaume, Vignoble de Vaulorent,
Premier Cru, 93 pts., Parker; $59.00: "Effectively Fevre's seventh grand cru, and given that it lives up to this billing, an outstanding value as well. Musky, sweetly floral notes like that of some exotic orchid mingle with saline and savory shrimp shell suggestions in the nose. Densely-concentrated, with a deep, oceanic brininess and mysteriously sweet yet mineral savor, this may not have the elegance or refinement of the "regular" Fourchaume, but it more than makes up for this in intensity, complexity, and sheer grip. I would give this 2-3 years in bottle before tasting it (again) and anticipate 12-15 years of fascinating bottle evolution." - 2006 Les Preuses, Grand Cru, 96 pts., Parker; $99.00: Marries fruit from a southeast-facing parcel just above the Cote de Bouguerots and conducive to "cool" fruit and overt minerality, with a southwest-facing parcel inherently inclined toward richness that was harvested at hugely high ripeness even before this year's ban de vendange. From its aroma through its impressively dense and expansive palate display, through its lingering finish, this sensually extravagant expression of Preuses (in a manner distinctly reminiscent of Vincent Dauvissat's) is totally suffused with the savory salinity and sweetness of shrimp and lobster shell reduction. This silken-textured beauty should be worth holding for a dozen or more years.
Buy one bottle of the above and buy the same brand, second bottle for only $1.00. (This same purchase may be repeated) No other discounts allowed.
All sales final. No returns or exchanges Offer good May 14th - May 20th

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
Interesting Apertifs and Sparklers
- Bonal Gentiane-Quina; $23.00: Bonal Gentiane-Quina, once nicknamed "ouvre l'appetit" (the key to the appetite), is a delicious aperitif wine that has been in production since 1865. It is made by infusing gentian root, herbs from the Grande Chartreuse mountains, and cinchona (quinine), in a Mistelle base, producing a wine that is known for its complexity. It is traditionally enjoyed neat, on ice with a twist, or in many classic mixed drinks.
- Cocchi Aperitivo Americano; $23.00: This is a low-alcohol, wine-based aperitif that does what so few purported aperitif's seem to do: it enlivens your palate and your appetite. What a concept! This is the original Americano, produced without a break in the Piedmontese town of Asti since 1891 and made according to an entirely natural recipe, which includes white wine aromatized with many herbs and spices, and no artificial coloring, flavoring or additive of any kind. It is produced in limited quantities and matured for a year before being put on sale. Serve chilled in a tumbler or in an appropriate glass with a twist of orange peel and if desired, ice cubes. A splash of soda is indispensable to make the full aroma and perfume come out at their best!
- 2011 MacPhail, Pinot Noir Rose', Sonoma Coast; $22.75: Lush texture. Bright flavors with notes of strawberry , herbs and spice. Refreshing. This strawberry blonde has rose petal aromas and strawberry tastes. She's dry and crisp - and she's perfect chilled.
- 2010 Cerreto I Vignaioli Santo Stefano, Moscato d'Asti, Piedmonte; $22.00: In the glass, a bright golden colour with a clear and persistent effervescence rising from the base of the glass. A gentle mousse collects on the surface. On swirling, the alcoholic content is seen to be limited, with the legs dissipating particularly quickly.
- 2008 Schramsberg, Blanc de Noirs, Napa-Sonoma-Mendocino-Marino; $37.00: "The 2008 Blanc de Noirs has lively aromas of apricot and persimmon, which gracefully lead to nuances of honey and lemon. The fruitful nose is complemented by vanilla spice and candied almond. The palate offers crisp and tart flavors of orange and lime rind, supported by a touch of roasted coffee. The finish is long and lingering."
- Winemakers Keith Hock and Hugh Davies - NV Lanson, Brut, Black Label, Reims, 91 pts., Wine Spectator; $45.00: The Lanson Black Label Champagne is an elegant, berry and citrus-infused bubbly, very fresh and lively, with an intensity that carries through to the long, long aftertaste.
- 2006 Duval-Leroy, Brut, Cuvee Paris, 91 pts., Wine Spectator; $47.00: 40 % Chardonnay - 60% Pinot Noir Gold, straw-yellow. Abundant mousse, delicate fine bubbles, beautiful cordon. Powerful and elegant fresh fruits, white flowers, honeysuckle and hazelnut aromas, well-balanced,full-flavoured and fresh, with a rich, elegant and silky long finish. This bottle will be a wonderful companion to a grenadin of tender veal, a filet mignon with truffles or even a gratin of langoustine tails American style.
- NV Armand de Brignac Brut, Ace of Spades, 94 pts., Wine & Spirits; $340.00: Armand de Brignac is marvelously complex and full-bodied, with a bouquet that is both fresh and lively. Its sumptuous, racy fruit character is perfectly integrated with the wine's subtle brioche accents. Its texture is deliciously creamy and the palate has great depth and impact with a long and silky finish. A superb and singular example of a Prestige Champagne.
- NV Armand de Brignac, Blanc de Blancs, Ace of Spades; $549.00: This is the highly sought after ultra-luxury cuvee made by Cattier. It is packaged in a gold bottle with a pewter card-spade with an A on it instead of a label, giving rise to the nick-name "Ace of Spades". It is a favorite of many musicians and has been popping up in celebrity circles and even in videos. Take your cue from Jay-Z and pop open a bottle of this bubbly, made exclusively from Premier and Grand Cru-rated villages in three different terroirs: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs. It is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40%, Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier.
- NV Armand de Brignac, Rose', Ace of Spades; $549.00: This Ultra-Chic, Ultra-Trendy Ace of Spades by Champagne Cattier is the 'New Cristal' according to Hip-Hop icon Jay-Z. The newly released Rose is a favorite of Victoria Beckham and is extremely limited. Armand de Brignac Rose is a beautiful salmon-hued wine produced in the traditional, old-world style, from grape to glass. Its bouquet is rich and pure with red fruits up front and delicately smoky grilled notes behind. The Champagne is fresh and full-bodied on the palate with aromas of fresh strawberries and blackcurrant and Armand de Brignac's characteristic long, silky finish.

For Your Appreciation: Thank You!
Pay one penny for one bottle of Chateau Bonnet, Bordeaux Blanc or Rouge upon spending over $100.00 on any wine purchase. Normal price is $14.00 per bottle.
The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.
Limit one wine purchase per family per day.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
