Assorted West Coast Reds

  • 2009 14 Hands Merlot, Washington State; $12.00: 14 Hands Merlot offers classic Washington aromas of blackberries, plums and black cherries. Expressive flavors of berries and cherries are joined by subtle nuances of mocha and spice. While soft and approachable, this wine maintains a firm backbone of tannins.
  • 2009 14 Hands, Cabernet Sauvignon, Washington State; $12.00: Subtle flavors of boysenberry, pie crust and allspice, surrounding a bright cherry core, are supported by a framework of supple tannins and culminate with a lengthy, lush finish.
  • 2009 Doubleback, Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, 92 pts., Tanzer; $109.00: "As with our previous vintages, the 2009 shows a beautiful deep ruby color in the glass. The nose evolves dramatically after a couple of hours. Initially there are notes of dried fruits, strawberries and a hint of saddle leather. After about 90 minutes the aromas evolve and begin to show some high toned floral notes and red fruits. The juice is round and soft on the attack with nicely integrated tannins even in its youth."
  • 2010 Cline Cellars, Mourvedre, Ancient Wines, Was $20.00, Now $15.00: "Our Ancient Vines Mourvèdre offers a hint of Eucalyptus on the nose, distinct chocolate characteristics and a luscious deep plum flavor. This scrumptious and unusually delightful wine has a substantial mouth-feel followed by soft tannins."
  • 2010 Roar, Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands; $45.00: "Our 2010 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is dark ruby in color with a bright nose of blackberries, blueberries, black cherries, and cinnamon. The full-bodied palate shows abundant ripe fruit and nice toast notes buoyed by cool climate activity."
  • 2010 Failla, Pinot Noir, Keefer Ranch, Russian River Valley; $50.00: Epitomizing the Russian River Valley "terroir ", the '10 Keefer carries the mantle of the highly-decorated '09 with dizzying aromas of baking spices, black current, sous-bois, licorice, and marzipan. Lush, silky texture and juicy fruit belie the structure of this wine's present tannins.
  • 2010 Paul Hobbs, Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, 91-93 pts., Parker; $60.00: Deep ruby in color, this complex pinot noir offers aromas of wild berries, rose petals, cola and tobacco. The silky, supple palate is brimming with raspberry, caramel fleur de sel, lavender, cardamom; all supported with a mineral backbone.
  • 2007 Whitehall Lane, Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve, Napa Valley, 92 pts., Wine Spectator; $75.00: "A wonderful mix of spicy wild berry, black currant, sage and mineral flavors. Full-bodied and slow to unfold, but expansive, gaining depth and richness on the finish, with a grainy, minerally aftertaste. Drink now and through 2019."
  • 2007 Grgich Hills, Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Grown, Napa Valley, 1.5 Litre; $100.00: Producer notes: "90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot. All of the grapes were grown at our estate vineyards, which are certified organic and Biodynamic. The result is an elegant wine with aromas of black cherries and licorice with a long finish. Full bodied with smooth tannins, it's the perfect partner with filet mignon, grilled steak or lamb chops. Barrel aged 21 months in French oak, 60% new. Alcohol 14.5%."

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes. Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Normal retail price is $14.00 per bottle, but you only pay 1 penny upon spending $100 on any wine purchase.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
