This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
New Imports

  •  2010 Anselmi, San Vincenzo, Veneto; $13:00: White Wine by Anselmi from Veneto, Italy. Light straw color with crisp and pure aromas, with scents of minerals, apple, banana and lemon blossoms. Medium-bodied, dry and fresh, with notes of citrus fruit, pear, grapefruit and hints of hazelnut. Well-matched with smoked or grilled fish, shellfish, lobster salad and roast chicken.
  • 2010 Donnafugata, Anthilia, Sicily; $15.00: Floral notes, crisp, with rich fruit of lemon/lime, white peach and yellow plum. Only 12.5% alcohol, this is an excellent and refreshing summer alternative to the popular Pinot Grigio. A complete and complex Italian white wine.
  • 2007 Arnaldo  Caprai, Montefalco Rosso, Umbria, 90 pts., Parker; $21.00: Medium to deep ruby. Amazingly complex aromatics for such a young wine. Candy black cherries, incense, black licorice, pine needles, and most of all, ground coffee. Medium weight but great flavor expansion, very chocolatey dark fruit, fine, lingering, mouth-coating tannins.
  • 2009 Bouchard Pere & Fils, Bourgogne, Blanc, Cote de  Beaune; $19.00: Beaune is the epicenter of Burgundy's wine trade and the second-largest town in the famous Cote d'Or sub-region. Just as Nuits-Saint-Georges gives its name to the Cote de Nuits, so Beaune's name has been adopted for the southern half of the Cote d'Or escarpment, the Cote de Beaune.
  • 2009 Bouchard Pere & Fils, Bourgogne, Rouge, Cote  de Beaune; $19.00: For centuries, Beaune has been so intrinsically associated with Burgundy's wines that before the formalization of France's appellation system in the mid-20th century, its name was widely used as a generic title for any locally produced wine. Since the creation of the town's communal AOC Beaune appellation in September 1936, only wines from Beaune vineyards have been able to use the name.
  • 2008 Aalto, Tempranillo, Ribera del Duero, Spain, 95 pts., Parker; $56.00: A glass-coating opaque purple color, it is already displaying a complex aromatic array of sandalwood, smoke, espresso, lavender, Asian spices, and assorted blue and black fruits. Smooth-textured, succulent, and structured, it will evolve for 2-3 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2028+. In the scheme of things, it offers great value in top-flight Ribera del Duero.
  • 2007 Donnafugata, Proprietary Red, Tancredi, Sicily, Tre Bicchieri; $44.00:

From their website: "Tancredi is the perfect partner while reading a book or listening to music. We also recommend it for formal and business lunches. Its broad and enveloping structure pairs to grilled or roasted strong red meats, imposing roasts and lamb. Try it with porcini mushrooms and aged cheeses too."

  • 2009 Donnafugata, Muscat, Ben Rye' Sicily, 375 ml., 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $42.00: Complex and ample sweet wine with an outstanding freshness. On the nose intense notes of apricot and peach follewed by sweet sensations of dried figs and honey, aromatic herbs and mineral notes.
  • 2007 Antinori, Tignanello, Tuscany, 95 pts., Parker; $99.00: "Antinori's 2007 Tignanello is wonderfully ripe and seductive in its dark cherries, flowers, spices, tobacco, sage, cedar, mint and minerals. This is as opulent a Tignanello as I have ever tasted but there is just enough acidity and structure from the Sangiovese to keep things from going over the top. The wine's richness and warmth are such that in a blind tasting I mistook the 2007 Tignanello for a wine from Maremma! The dense, muscular fruit follows through to an impeccable finish with no hard edges and impossibly fine, silky tannins. Simply put, the 2007 is a magnificent Tignanello. The 2007 Tignanello is 80% Sangiovese aged in 300-liter French oak barrels (1/3 new), 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, both aged in 100% new 225-liter French oak barriques. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027."

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
