  • 2009 Maison Henry Fessy, Beaujolais, Fleurie, 92 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $20.00: Lying on homogeneous soils of granite containing large crystals, Fleurie is often regarded as the Queen of Beaujolais. The wines are characterized by abounding finesse and elegance with floral aromas of irises and violets. This Fleurie has a very pleasant bouquet of red fruits mixed with floral tones. In the mouth the red fruit is rich and concentrated backed with a persistent finish. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
  • 2009 Maison Henry Fessy, Beaujolais, Moulin-a-Vent, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $20.00: The boundaries of Moulin-à-Vent were marked out as early as 1924. The vineyard has shallow sandy soils derived from the underlying granite which is rich in manganese. This kind of terroir gives much substance and the resulting wines are often compared to their Burgundian cousins of the Côte d'Or. Moulin-à-Vent can be cellared for several years. Intense and complex aromas of black fruits are expressive on the nose of this Moulin à Vent. This is a characterful wine with beautiful concentration and supple tannins. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
Valentine's Rose's and Reds

  • 2010 Domaines Ott, Rose' Les Domainers, Cotes de Provence, Was $21.00, Now $15.00 : Les Domaniers Cotes de Provence Rose 2010 is a fresh and balanced rosé that captures the spirit of the Cote d'Azur with it exotic fruit and white peach flavors. Built upon Domaines Ott's winemaking expertise, this wine is to be paired with Provencal cuisine such as salad nicoise, grilled lamb, sea bass and seasonal vegetables.
  • NV J Vineyards, Brut, Rose' Russian River Valley, 90 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; Was $28.00, Now $22.00: "There are Rosés that trade on weighty vinosity and others that aim for a lighter, less serious style, and, while this engaging young wine is clearly in the latter camp, it is not without a nicely filigreed bit of yeast that moves it away from candied-quaffer simplicity. The J Brut Rosé is cleansing and crisp in a way that makes second and third sips impossible to forego, and it is energized by an unending stream of fine and gentle bubbles."
  • NV Perrier Jouet, Blason Rose', 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $75.00: Inspired by the wine's pink aspect and light-orange reflections. Powerful aromas on the nose, ripe red berries with hints of jam, raspberry and wild strawberry filtering through traced of violet and rose petal. Generous yet refined.
  • 2007 Stonestreet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Monument Ridge, Alexander Valley, 94 pts., Parker; $49.00: "The biggest production cuvee, the inky/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Monument Ridge is fabulous. Composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc aged 16 months in 76% new French oak casks, it reveals abundant aromas of creme de cassis, graphite, ink, licorice, and fruitcake in a full-bodied, Pauillac-like style with plenty of sweet tannin."
  • 2008 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, Artemis, Napa Valley, 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $55.00: Deep garnet in color, it offers black cherry and cassis tones and a velvety texture to the tannins. The wine delivers great depth and fruit concentration without heaviness on the palate. The incredible combination of vineyards in this blend shows the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars signature style of balance, elegance and restraint. The bright fruit, firm structure and balanced acidity allow this wine to pair well with food.
  • 2007 Antica, Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak, Napa Valley, 94 pts., Parker; Was $60.00, Now $49.00: Parker: "The finest wine I have yet tasted from Piero Antinori's rocky hillside vineyard on Soda Canyon Road in southeast Napa, this 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a dense purple color along with a rich, sumptuous bouquet of licorice, creme de cassis, and smoky oak. This opulent, fleshy, full-bodied wine exhibits beautiful purity and concentrated fruit. It should age nicely for 15-20 years. Impressive and reasonably priced!"
  • 2010 Orin Swift Cellars, The Prisoner, Proprietary Red, Napa Valley; $40.00: Winemaker Notes - Predominantly Zinfandel with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blended in, it's up there with the best California Zins that cost twice as much. This blends the lush berry flavors of Zinfandel, the power and concentration of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dark black fruit of Syrah, the intensity and structure of Petite Sirah, the flesh of Charbono, and a hint of Grenache - all combined for a decadent wine with great complexity.
  • 2010 Orin Swift Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, Palermo, Napa Valley; $38.00: Aromas of dark, brooding fruit with subtle French oak in the background lead into a smooth entry of ripe cherry and fig. The mid-palate is subtle and stretches with loads of bright acidity and candied cassis. Layers of stone fruit and ribena lead into a round, supple, lingering finish of integrated soft tannins that roll on and on. This wine is amazing now and has another 8 to 10 years in it at least!
  • 2009 Orin Swift Cellars, Mercury Head, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley; $85.00: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon & 5% Merlot. Ripe aromas of cassis, violet and boysenberry lead into a lush palate that contines with hints of dark cherry and bramble furit framed by bright acidity and suble structure. Soft and and long finish.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
