Winter $1.00 Sale!
Buy One Of These Bottles & Get the 2nd Bottle, Same Brand for $1.00 - 2008 Vine Hill, Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mountains; $25.00: A flinty and "clean" finish that is appreciated by food lovers for cleansing the palate and complimenting a wide variety of seafood dishes. The pineapple and crisp pear fruit characteristics of this wine are complimented by hints of vanilla in the finish. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
- 2007 Newton, Chardonnay, Unfiltered, Napa Valley, 92 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $60.00: "Very dry, a lean, austere Chardonnay currently marked by aloof flavors of lemons, limes and oak. Yet there's something going on. As the wine warms in the glass it becomes richer, showing hidden pineapple tart, macadamia and crème brûlée. Firm, minerally acidity is there throughout, making for a mouthwatering cleanliness. Drink this streamlined, Chablis-like wine now-2013." Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
- 2006 L'Ecole No. 41, Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, 91 pts., Parker; $49.00: Good full red. Smoky cassis, redcurrant, mocha and nutty oak on the nose. Pliant and generous, displaying a bit more sweetness than the Columbia Valley bottling, some of it no doubt from the Taransaud oak component. The oak carries through onto the sweet, ripely tannic finish, where the redcurrant fruit lingers nicely. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
- Non Vintage Ramos Pinto, Porto, Fine White; $17.00: This distinctive port has a rich golden yellow color with wonderful primary aromas of pineapple and banana, which are balanced by mature secondary aromas. On the palate, it is light and smooth with a delicate sweetness. The wine is fresh, fruity, slightly dry and simply delightful! Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
- Non Vintage Campbell's Tokay Rare Isabella, 375 ml., 98 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $85.00: Dark amber in color and going greenish at the rim, the basis of this wine is clearly old stocks going back well over 60 years. It's full-bodied, unctuous and superrich, oozing with molasses and rancio character, but balanced by citrusy notes. The finish is incredibly sweet and long, coating the mouth with coffee-like essences that linger for minutes. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00

The Zinfandel at Korte Ranch was planted about 100 years ago during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt. It has lived through the Bolshevik revolution, the Red Scare and the dissolution of the USSR. These vines have coexisted with men on the moon and survived the invention of LSD, MTV, Velveeta and Cool Whip.
This 40 acre parcel just north of St. Helena is owned by Hal, Jack and Kathy Pagendarm. Hal's grandfather owned and operated the Korte Ranch Winery before Prohibition. Up on the hill are the crumbled remains of a stone cellar and house where the original Korte Winery was located. Periodic Elvis sightings are reported by the locals.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
