Autumn $1.00 Sale!

Buy One Of These Bottles & Get the 2nd Bottle, Same Brand for $1.00

  • 2007 Chateau Montelena, Riesling, Potter Valley, Mendocino; $29.00: The wine is bright, brilliant yellow gold in color, the deep gold a true Botrytis effect. The nose offers a wafting of perfume, with aromas of honeysuckle, Crenshaw or white melon, and a very pleasing varietal spice. On the palate it is simply "juicy-juice" tasty, bright, and awfully refreshing. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
  • 2005 David Bruce, Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills; $45.00: On the nose there are notes of blackcurrant, cherry, plum and cranberry while the palate bursts with juicy cherry and plum flavors, rich caramel and spicy white pepper. It has firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
  • 2007 Robert Biale, Zinfandel, Monte Rosso, Sonoma Valley, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $56.00:The nose was very attractive with creamy ripe, fragrant red fruit and just a touch of spice. The palate was rich and creamy and textured with touches of spice from the oak and the character of the grape. The tannins were pretty supple, but just gave a firm, chalky structure to an otherwise gloriously smooth wine. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
  • 2007 Pax Cellars, Proprietary Blend, Cuvee Moriah, Sonoma County, 90 pts., Parker; $50.00: "At first a little brooding and dark with accents of vanilla and allspice berries, the aromatics open up to orange zest, crushed strawberries, cranberry, and white pepper. With hints of ripe cherries in the mouth, the wine has both sweet fruit and a crisp structure that is decidedly not overbearing. There is a tantalizing tension that sustains the sweet and savory flavors through a long and delicious finish." Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
  • 2001 Castello di Farnetella, Poggio Granoni, IGT, Tuscany; $29.00: The ripe raspberry & blackberry fruit of a wonderful vintage with light hints of earth. Complex, medium body. Shines with Pot Roast & Potatoes. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
Great Values at $12.00 or Less

  • NV Jaume Serra, Cristalino, Cava, 91 pts., Wine & Spirits; $10.00: Straw color, smooth and fresh aromas; fine and fruity palate with a dry aftertaste. Clean, dry and crisp with citrus and apple flavors.
  • 2010 14 Hands, Chardonnay, Washington; $12.00: From the winery: "14 Hands Chardonnay is full-on melon, apple and pear with a faint floral note; soft in your mouth yet crisp with your favorite food. Our vineyards were once home to wild horses that roamed with starkly beautiful hills and drank from the mighty Columbia River."
  • 2010 Greystone Cellars, Chardonnay, California; $10.00: The Greystone Cellars Chardonnay vineyard sites were specifically chosen for their tropical nature. Cool Santa Barbara grown grapes provide crisp citrus texture, while the Lodi grown grapes give the Chardonnay rich, juicy flavors. A relatively cool California summer allowed for maximum flavor development. The warmer areas arrived at the end of August whereas the coastal fruit languished in cooling fog until the middle of September.
  • 2009 Greystone Cellars, Merlot, California; $10.00:  Ruby red color, black cherry and chocolate aromas are layered with vanilla, briars and smoke. The fleshy texture is harmonious with plum and raspberry flavors.
  • 2009 Greystone Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, California; $10.00: Garnet color, aromas of tart cherries, caramel and coffee swirl in the glass, spicy flavors of black pepper and cinnamon are tightly woven through the Bing cherry core. Tight tannins give this wine great structure.
  • 2007 St. Francis Winery, Red Splash, Sonoma County; $12.00: Red, ripe and robust fruit flavors with spicy aromas make this a wine that pairs well with a variety of foods. Great with grilled foods and pizza or pasta dishes with red sauce. The perfect wine to serve at a cocktail party or backyard barbecue.
  • 2007 Bodegas Campo Viejo, Crianza Red Blend, Rioja, Spain; $10.00:  It is an intense ruby red with aromas of black fruit and vanilla. Velvety and elegant. Drink it with red or white meat, roasts and cheese.
  • 2008 Santa Cristo, Garnacha, Seleccion, Campo de Borja, Spain; $10.00:  The color is dark ruby-purple, like princes' robes; the bouquet is an intense and concentrated burst of bright blackberry, blueberry and plum aromas woven with dried herbs and potpourri and - after a few minutes in the glass - a ballast-like strain of dusty shale. The wine is rich and flavorful, like blackberry jam infused with thyme and black olives and given a subtle overtone of cloves and violets. The finish lasts longer than you expect for a wine at this price, threading out in spice, black fruit and granite-like minerality.
  • 2009 Chapoutier, Cotes du Rhone, Belleruche, Rouge, 89 pts., Parker; $12.00: "Even better, and a real sleeper of the vintage, is the 2009 Cotes du Rhone Belleruche red. Dominated by 80% Grenache, with the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, this wine has a deep ruby/purple-tinged color to the rim, a big, spicy, peppery, kirsch-scented nose, and medium-bodied, juicy flavors, with intriguing minerality and loads of fruit and texture. This is a very serious Cotes du Rhone that should drink nicely for 3-4 years. (To Chapoutier's credit, this is made completely from contracted biodynamically farmed vineyards, as opposed to buying fermented juice from growers.)"

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
