  • 2007 Goose Ridge, Riesling, Columbia Valley; $14.00: The straw toned hue sets up a nose that offers Bosc pear, golden delicious apple, apricots and honeysuckle; the parade of aromatics is bound by a fresh lemony fragrance. The palate is medium bodied; this Riesling is a touch richer with delightful elements of residual sugar to balance its bright acidity. Stone fruits, nectarine and floral elements dominate while pleasing touches of minerality act as supporting cast. The finish is long and clean. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00
  • 2007 Wittmann, Riesling, QbA Trocken Rheinhessen; $24.00: A smooth, peach-infused white, lush and expansive, yet backed by a firm structure. Picks up energy on the long finish, which adds a peppery accent. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00

This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
Alexander Valley, California

  • NV Roederer Anderson Valley, Brut, Sparkling, 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $19.00:
The Roederer Estate Brut is crisp and elegant with complex pear, spice and hazelnut flavors. It is fresh and lightly fruity with great finesse and depth of flavor.
  • 2009 Sebastiani, Chardonnay, Sonoma County, 91 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $13.00: Winemaker Notes: Our 2009 Chardonnay possesses a wonderful elegance due to the coolness of the vintage. While the wine still has the abundant orchard fruit flavors typical of Sonoma County Chardonnay, it also displays more citrus, acidity and minerality than we have seen in the past. The oak profile is also subdued to better match the wine's intensity, but there is still plenty of inherent texture and ripeness thanks to the Indian summer and frequent stirring of the lees. Overall, one of the most balanced, complex and delicious Sonoma County Chardonnays produced in years.
  • 2008 Stuhlmuller, Chardonnay, Estate, 90 pts., Parker, Was $25.00, Now $20.00: From its lemon-green color to its aromas of Bartlett pear, Meyer lemon peel, hard lemon candy, clove and honeysuckle, this wine offers a captivating first impression. On the palate, it is lushly textured and full-bodied, displaying flavors of poached pear and lime custard, alongside brown baking spices and Stuhlmuller Vineyard's signature wet stone minerality.
  • 2008 Stonestreet, Chardonnay, Gold Run, 95 pts., Parker; $55.00: 95 points Robert Parker: "The medium straw-colored 2008 Chardonnay Gold Run is a full-bodied, rich, vibrant style of wine packed and stacked with honeyed citrus, marmalade, creme brulee aromas and flavors. It should evolve for 6-8+ years."
  •  2008 Stonestreet, Chardonnay, Lower Rim, 96 pts., Parker; $96.00: "The 2008 Chardonnay Lower Rim is another compelling effort displaying enormous flesh, richness, succulence, minerality, and acidity. Notes of steely nectarines, bright oranges, lemon zest, butter cookies, and nutmeg emerge from this serious Chardonnay."
  • 2007 Stonestreet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Monument Ridge, 94 pts., Parker; $46.00: "The biggest production cuvee, the inky/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Monument Ridge is fabulous. Composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc aged 16 months in 76% new French oak casks, it reveals abundant aromas of creme de cassis, graphite, ink, licorice, and fruitcake in a full-bodied, Pauillac-like style with plenty of sweet tannin."
  • 2009 Ridge Vineyards, Zinfandel, Lytton Springs, Sonoma County, 95 pts., Parker; $35.00: Ripe black cherry/raspberry nose, with notes of pepper, licorice, chaparral, and tobacco. Rich black fruit on the palate. Full, viscous. Well-coated tannins and a long, layered finish.
  • 2009 Seghesio Family, Zinfandel, Home Ranch, 95 pts., #12, Top 100, 2011, Wine Spectator; $39.00:  Winemaker Notes: Our 2009 Home Ranch Zinfandel displays generous helpings of blackberry, raspberry and other brambly fruit characteristic of the warm Alexander Valley climate. Smelling these aromas heaped upon undertones of "graham crust" typical of our Home Ranch terroir paints a vivid picture of our Home Ranch Zinfandel vines at harvest time. On the palate, these components are threaded together seamlessly with subtle hints of oak, briary acidity and the soft, ripe fruit tannins that will come to embody the 2009 vintage.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
