This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features!
Russian River Valley, California

  • 2010 Hanna, Sauvignon Blanc, Estate Grown, 90 pts., Wine & Spirits; $16.00:
"This wines exotic tropical fruit and litchi flavors are plumped up by aging on the lees. Its warm and peppery, with a green, agave-like character and graphite-edged acidity in the finish."
  • 2009 La Crema, Chardonnay, 91 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $26.00: Color: Deep red ruby hue with soft garnet highlights. Aroma: Intense aromas of fresh red fruit, cherry, sour black cherry and red currant. Taste: Full-bodied and well-balanced, with flavors of dried fruit, cherry and vanilla.
  • 2009 La Crema, Pinot Noir, 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; Was $40.00, Now $35.00: "The aromas and flavors of this vintage are textbook Russian River Valley: the nose of rich black cherry and subtle rose petal is highlighted by hints of sassafras and orange peel. The palate is rich and round, with brooding black cherry, cocoa and spice over a noticeably plush texture of broad tannins on a lingering, juicy fruit finish." - Melissa Stackhouse, La Crema Winemaker
  • 2009 Ramey Wine Cellars, Chardonnay, 92 pts., Tanzer; Was $39.50, Now $30.00:  Bright gold. Wilder and more pungent than the Sonoma Coast bottling, displaying scents of poached pear, porcini and white truffle, along with floral and spice nuances that pick up power with air. Deeply concentrated orchard and pit fruit flavors are energized by tangy acidity. A smoky note comes up on the finish and lingers tenaciously. This comes across like a California version of a premier cru from Chassagne-Montrachet.
  • 2009 Benovia, Chardonnay, La Pommeraie, 92 pts., Tanzer; $53.00: This yellow colored Chardonnay opens with a lemon and pine bouquet with a hint of oak, honey and a touch of alcohol was detected as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and savory. The flavor profile is an oak infused green melon with a hint of pear. The finish is dry and its flavors linger for quite sometime.
  • 2007 Martinelli Vineyards, Chardonnay, Lolita Ranch, 92 pts., Wine Spectator; Was $60.00, Now $40.00: "Martinelli Chardonnay Russian River Valley Lolita Ranch 2007 A rich, full-bodied, creamy style, with complex vanilla, fig, nectarine, honeysuckle and melon flavors, gaining depth and dimension on the finish. Drink now through 2015."
  • 2008 Martinelli Vineyards, Pinot Noir, 92 pts., Tanzer; Was $60.00, Now $40.00: Medium garnet/ruby hue is followed by a big, sweet kiss of wild strawberries, forest floor and earth. This medium to full-bodied, sexy, seductive Pinot possesses adequate acids, sweet tannins and loads of fruit.
  • 2007 Martinelli Vineyards, Syrah, Terra Felice; Was $45.00, Now $35.00:   The Terra Felice Syrah is laden with rich flavors and aromas of plum, violets, raw meat, and tobacco.
  • 2008 Williams Selyem, Pinot Noir, 91 pts., Tanzer; $65.00: The rich and full tannins accentuate blackberry and dark plummy fruit flavors, and complement the creamy, silky finish. The concentrated dark fruits and spicy flavors truly express the classic depth, complexity, and finesse that you would expect from our Russian River Valley pinot noir.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
