This Week's Village Wine Cellar Features! Pinot Noir
- 2009 A to Z Wineworks,Oregon, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $20.00: "Light and lively, a bit tight but graceful, glowing with boysenberry and plum fruit that's shaded with cedar and cream notes. The finish doesn't quit. Drink now through 2014"
- 2009 La Crema, Pinot Noir, Monterey, 92 pts., Wine Enthusiast; Was $24.00, Now $19.75: "A rich, vital, complex Pinot Noir. Completely dry, with a savory scour of acidity, it treads a fine line between ripe cherries and pomegranates and earthier notes of mushrooms and dried herbs. Lots of terroir in this fine wine, which will take a few years of bottle age."
- 2009 Ken Wright Cellars, Willamette Valley, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $25.00: This wine is Ken Wright Cellars' first blend that encompasses all of its single-vineyard Pinot Noir sites -- including Abbott Claim, Canary Hill, Carter, Freedom Hill, Guadalupe, McCrone, Meredith Mitchell, Nysa and Savoya vineyards. Ken Wright says: This blend is extremely enjoyable, lush and full of pure Pinot fruit.
- 2009 Failla, Keefer Ranch, Russian River Valley, 95 pts., Wine Spectator; $49.00: Another one of these California Pinot Noirs that charms with it's fruit-forward aromatics and ultimately satisfies for how clean and free of "off" notes it is. Pure. Silky smooth on the palate with a beautiful finish without any strange aftertastes. Fantastic stuff.
- 2009 A.P. Vin, Sonoma Coast, Kanzler Vineyard, Sonoma Coast, 94 pts., Wine Spectator; $53.00: Pop and pour. Aroma of cherry is wonderful. Light color is misleading since it has a lot of well balanced body. Cola, cherry and a hint of spice wound into a huge finish.
- 2006 Duckhorn Goldeneye, Gowan Creek, Anderson Valley, 94 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $79.00: Great Anderson Valley Pinot. Serious depth and body. Full deep red, blue and black fruit favors. Black cherries, plum, blueberry, cedar and spice. Yum. 2008 Beaux Freres, The Upper Terrace, Ribbon Ridge, Oregon, 95 pts., Wine Spectator; $99.00: Deep red with a bright rim. Pungent aromas of red and dark berries, Asian spices and musky herbs. Broad, fleshy dark berry flavors gain freshness with air and pick up notes of allspice and candied rose.
- 2009 Paul Hobbs, Hyde Vineyard, Carneros, Napa Valley, 93 pts., Tanzer; $82.00: Dense black plum in color, this graceful and elegant pinot noir from Larry Hyde's vineyard is aromatic with violets, sage and blueberry. The palate, rich with dusty, brooding earthiness, opens slowly to impressions of ripe currant, blackberry and jammy black fruits. A lengthy finish is punctuated with brambly notes and fine grained yet firm tannins.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
