- 2007 Argyle, Chardonnay, Nuthouse, Willamette Valley, 92 pts., Wine Spectator; $39.00: Very bright aromas of white peaches, roasted hazelnuts, with blossom honey and a unique fresh roasted wheat kernel jump out of the glass. The flavor has a surprising concentration of white peach and hint of melon up front and in the juicy mid-palate, all tethered to an exciting Meyer lemon cool climate mineral backbone. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2007 Freestone Vineyard, Chardonnay, Ovation, Sonoma Coast, 92 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $60.00: This wine is a harmonious marriage of flavors, textures and aromas from three different sites. Located in a warmer spot along the Russian River appellation and planted to Old Wente vines, the Bacigalupi Chardonnay component contributes the flavors and weight of honey and brioche, while the Dutton Ranch Chardonnay, which is in a slightly cooler spot in the same appellation, adds the acidity and citrus notes that so elegantly balance the texture of the former. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2005 Brassfield Merlot, High Valley, California; $19.00: Beautiful aromas of fresh baked cherry pie spill from the glass as compliments of vanilla and new leather add to the crescendo. There are hints of cinnamon and allspice along with an herbal element of coriander and sage. The soft tannins form a delicate framework that lead to a varietally correct finish. Summer Sippin' California
- 2009 Sonoma-Cutrer, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast, 91 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $26.50: "You can feel and taste the cool weather during this vintage in the citrusy acids, steely minerals and sleek, streamlined flavors of Meyer lemons and nectaringes. Barrel fermentation adds needed richness. Good price for a dry sopihisticated Chardonnay."
- 2008 Gary Farrell, Chardonnay, Russian River Valley; $32.00: This 2008 Russian River Chardonnay shows a lemon-gold color with medium intensity and bright clarity in appearance. The developing nose has medium plus intensity and shows ripe apple, pear, acacia blossom, lemon, toast, popcorn and vanilla.
- 2009 Chappellet, Chardonnay, Napa Valley, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $35.00: Delicate peach, apricot and light honeysuckle aromas meld into luscious notes of butter and vanilla. Ripe tropical fruit flavors of lychee and pineapple coat the palate, ushered by the wine's supple viscosity. The silky mouthfeel is balanced by crisp minerality, giving way to spicy oak, nutmeg and clove on the finish.
- 2008 Mount Eden Vineyards, Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mountains, 95 pts., Wine Spectator; $58.00: Yet another in a line of great Chardonnays from this producer. Very rich and intense, deeply concentrated and perfumed, delivering detailed flavors of white peach, honeysuckle, fig and citrus. Full-bodied, sleek and leesy, with a long lingering finish.
- 2010 Turley Wine Cellars, Cinsault, El Porron, Lodi; $21.00: Wow. Light and racy. From 130-year-old vines, this exhibits chai tea and dusty berries with great hints of rhubarb on the nose. Fantastic finish of red fruits and chalky earth. Really impressed by this Lodi interpretation of the fourth most widely planted grape in France.
- 2009 Turley Wine Cellars, Zinfandel Old Vines, California, 91 pts., Parker; $38.00: Turley is the name when it comes to blockbuster Zinfandels. These are California's richest, most powerful, and most exotic Zinfandels, taken from forgotten old-vine holdings throughout central and northern California (and now even down to Baja California!).
- 2009 Orin Swift Cellars, Zinfandel, SALDO, California; $32.00: Rich, ripe, and full-bodied, with aromas of black cherry and bramble fruit. The tannins are soft but the wine has a huge mid-palate. The soft, lush finish lingers. Drink now and enjoy over the next five years.
- 2009 Orin Swift Cellars, The Prisoner, Proprietary Red, Napa Valley; $40.00: This vintage has a deep ruby hue that is nearly opaque. The aromas elevate from the glass starting with black currant, dark blackberry, cherry, and cassis rounded out by subtle hints of seasoned French and American oak. The entry of the wine is massive and leads into a lush middle framed by bright acid and supple tannins. The finish is long, lingering and filled with soft velvety tannins lasting for nearly thirty seconds.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
