 Summer $1.00 Sale!
Buy One Of These Bottles & Get the 2nd Bottle, Same Brand for $1.00
- 2008 Voss, Sauvignon Blanc, Rutherford, 90 pts., Wine Review Online; $16.50: A classic California Sauvignon Blanc, with lots of tropical fruit aromas and flavors, fresh herbs and tangy grapefruit notes. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2008 Spottswoode, Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma Mtn. and Napa Valley; $38.00: Spicy big wine. Tropical fruit - pineapple, canteloupe, spiced peach cider, some nice grassy minerality, but yellow stewed grass, not green styling at all. The palate is viscous and shows some Rhone qualities in terms of complexity, body and spice drive. Solid finish. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2008 Grgich Hills, Fume Blanc, Estate Grown, Napa Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer; $30.00: Light gold in the glass with hints of chartreuse, this wine smells of tart unripe apples and citrus zest. In the mouth it is explosively zingy, with crackling acidity and bright pink grapefruit, lemon zest, and unripe apple flavors that linger in a nice finish. Dynamic and refreshing. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2008 Quintessa, Illumination, Sauvignon Blanc, Rutherford, 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $42.50: This is a blend of 92% Sauvignon Blanc and 8%
Sémillon. It was partially barrel-fermented and then aged on the lees. It is a very great example of its genre, one of the best in memory. Shows intricate layers of Meyer lemons, kefir limes and white peaches, offset by crisp acidity and minerals but softened with buttercream and buttered toast. A vibrant, immaculate wine, one of the Sauvignon Blanc stars of the vintage. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00! - 2007 Santa Margherita, Chianti Classico, Riserva, Tuscany; Was $29.00, Now $22.00: Initial fruits and spices that shift gradually into forest fruits and herbal notes. Village Wine Cellar Features!
California Sauvignon Blanc
- 2009 Fortress Vineyards, Red Hills, Lake County; $15.00: Fortress Sauvignon Blanc is crisp, clean and luscious with fresh ripe fruit, complex aromas and flavors of vibrant citrus, key lime, kiwi, and melon and a refined creamy texture leading to a rich, long-lingering finish.
- 2009 Ferrari Carano, Fume Blanc, Sonoma County, 91 pts., California Grapevine; $15.00: Medium-light yellow color; attractive, forward, intense, grassy varietal aroma with notes of ripe melon, kiwi, and citrus; medium-full body; rich, grassy, slightly tropical, citrus and honeydew melon flavors with good depth and a slightly creamy, silky mouthfeel; well balanced; crisp finish; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended.
- 2010 Matanzas Creek, Sonoma County, 90 pts., Tanzer, Was $20.00, Now $17.00: From their website: "The majority of the fruit in this vintage came from our vineyards in Knights Valley, which is on the border of Sonoma and Napa counties. In our opinion, this is one of the best regions for growing Sauvignon Blanc in Sonoma County, and the Knights Valley fruit contributes the white peach that runs through this wine. The 2010 vintage resulted in a balanced wine full of citrus and pineapple guava.
- 2010 Groth, Napa Valley; $21.00: The Groth Sauv Blanc includes 3% Semillon, added to the blend to boost the wine's aromatic profile and to add richness on the mid-palate. That, in conjunction with 70% barrel fermentation and five months of sur lie aging, is exactly what it did. The 2010 Groth SB is quite lush, with melon and tangerine notes on the nose and palate, with a creamy texture and tangy, citrus-like acidity. A perfect pairing for California Red Rock crab or a crisp summer salad.
- 2010 Round Pond Estate, Rutherford, Napa Valley; $24.00: This is a classic Sauvignon Blanc aroma profile with focused notes of kiwi fruit, grapefruit, wet stone, honeycomb, and ripe apricots. As the wine evolves, subtler floral fragrances are apparent including Queen Anne's lace and Lily of the Valley. Delicate and refined, this very pretty wine dances upon the pallet with a zesty citrus splash followed by honeydew melon flavors. While the wine has plenty of acid verve and backbone, it possesses a balanced mouth feel that is as soft as a down pillow.
- 2010 Twomey Cellars, Napa Valley; $26.00: Winemakers notes: "Our 2010 Twomey Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc has a light straw-yellow color and a dynamic nose of honeydew melon, citrus blossoms, white jonquil, guava, custard apple and pie crust. It has beautiful acid balance, great mouthfeel without heaviness and a long clean finish redolent of lime zest and mascarpone."
- 2009 Merry Edwards, Russian River Valley, 92 pts., The Tasting Panel; $38.00: From their website: "This wine "struts its stuff' in a sophisticated and stylish fashion. The aroma is floral and mouthwatering, layered with ripe melon, peach and subtle mineral highlights. In the mouth, it is rich and seamlessly well balanced, kicking in a hint of grapefruit, cirrus and pear on the lingering finish."
- 2009 Rochioli, Russian River Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer; $40.00 : "Light, greenish gold. Mineral-accented orange, lemon and floral aromas are complicated by nuances of green tea and honeysuckle. Impressively racy and focused but far from austere, with juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a dusting of talc-y minerality. Tactile, well-delineated wine, leaving spicy and stony notes behind on the long finish."

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
