 Spring $1.00 Sale!
Buy One Of These Bottles & Get the 2nd Bottle,
Same Brand for $1.00
- 2001 E. Guigal, Hermitage, Northern Rhone, 91 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $89.00: Awesome concentration with deft melding of massive fruit and Guigal's trademark new oak. Syrah at its biggest and its best. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2004 Shadow Canyon, Syrah/Grenache, Amilia, Santa Ynez Valley, 92 pts., Parker; $44.00: "The 2004 Amila is a brilliant blend of Syrah and Grenache from the Shadow Canyon and Larner vineyards. Elegant, with great delineation, flavor depth, intensity, and balance, it reveals notes of cassis, kirsch, licorice, charcoal, and subtle wood in its full-bodied, opulent, well-made yet structured personality. Consume it over the next 10-12 years. If you haven't yet gotten on the Shadow Canyon bandwagon, time is running short!". Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2006 Peirson Meyer, Chardonnay, "Untitled", Sonoma, 94 pts., Parker; $89.00: "Here is another impressive portfolio of wines from winemakers & proprietors Robbie Meyer and Alan Pierson, who have crafted some of the finest Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs made in the difficult 2006 vintage. Made from a selection from the best barrels, the 2006 Chardonnay Peirson Meyer is a more restrained, almost structured style of Chardonnay. The wine reveals a liquid minerality character intermixed with notes of tropical fruit, honeyed orange, and lemon. It will probably open over the next year, and last for 5-7 years." Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
- 2006 L'Angevin, Pinot Noir, Stage Vineyard, Sonoma, 91 pts., Parker; $59.00: Displays more black currant, sweet black cherry, and raspberry characteristics along with hints of damp earth, forest floor, and figs, sweet tannin, medium to full body, and a long finish. A superb effort in this vintage.
- 2008 Freeman, Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 91 pts., Wine Spectator; $50.00: From their website: "As it seems to be almost every year, the 2008 Freeman Sonoma Coast is the darkest, most powerful and largest-framed of our lineup of four Pinot Noirs. The nose is dominated by spicy, slow-ripening Pinot Noir aromas, with hints of violets and roses. Though somewhat similar on the palate to our '08 Russian River Valley bottling, the Sonoma Coast offers higher acidity and firmer tannins. We expect the '08 Sonoma Coast Pinot to be drinking extremely well by 2011, but it should age easily to 2018 and beyond." Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
This $1.00 purchase only applies to the 2nd bottle. No other discounts allowed. All sales final. No returns or exchanges. Offer good May 9th - May 15th. Offer good while supplies last. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Village Wine Cellar Features!
Syrah or Grenache
- 2008 Chateau de Lescaux, Coteau du Languedoc, France, 91 pts., Top 100, Wine Spectator; $19.00: "Very suave, with effusive spicy notes on the aroma and lush, fresh flavors of raspberry and red plum that turn quite creamy. The luscious finish features plenty of snap to its ginger and white pepper notes. Drink now through 2014." (11/10) 14% abv.
- 2007 Domaines Les Pallierres, Gigondas, Terrasse du Diable, 92 pts., Top 100, Wine Spectator; $36.00: 93 Points - Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) "The sensational 2007 Gigondas Les Terraces de Diable reveals gloriously sweet black cherry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with notions of licorice, loamy soil, and roasted herbs. With terrific fruit density, a full-bodied richness, and striking elegance and precision, it should drink well for 15 or more years."
- 2007 Maison Nicolas Perrin, Syrah, St. Joseph, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; $37.00: Very dark purple red, almost black. Strong Rhone wine bouquet, peppery, spicy, very ripe black berry fruit nose. A big wine, very dense, very ripe and sweet, but very well balanced with good fresh acidity. Young but drinking well, finishing clean and long, leaving the palate refreshed.
- 2007 Perrin et Fils, Chateauneuf du Pape, les Sinards, 92 pts., Parker; $45.00 According to Robert Parker: "The Perrin et Fils 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Sinards completes a very impressive line-up. Dense ruby, with licorice, sweet cherry, and lavender notes, this full-bodied, admirably concentrated wine can be drunk now or over the next 10-12 years. According to the Wine Spectator: This delivers the ripe, plum, boysenberry and blueberry fruit profile of the vintage, with good underlying sweet toast and spice notes. Slightly raisiny on the finish, but there's enough fresh anise and rounded tannins to offset that." Drink now through 2011. 8,330 cases made.
- 2009 Melville, Syrah, Estate, Verna's, Sta. Rita Hills; $26.00: Visually, electric purple with fruit aromatics of wild blackberry and black plum that interweave with intriguing notes of smoked bacon, brown sugar, black olive and fresh meat. Slightly sinister hints of pepper, lavender, miso teriyaki glaze, dried nori and dark chocolate also waft throughout the bouquet. On the palate the wine is velvety, generous and furthers this complexity. While savory and flavorful, the wine remains deft and satiating allowing it to go underneath food and not over it.
- 2007 Fess Parker, Syrah, The Big Easy, Santa Ynez Valley, 91 pts., Parker; $30.00: This opaque and dark purple Syrah opens with a fragrant black currant bouquet with a hint of vanilla. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with black currant flavors. There are also notes of blackberry and a heavy dose of black pepper. The finish is dry and its tannins are subtle. This wine would pair well with meatloaf or big juicy bacon burger.
- 2008 Beckman, Grenache, Purisima Mountain, Santa Ynez Valley, 91 pts., Parker; $48.00: The wine leads with enticing pomegranate, grenadine, licorice and anise aromatics before revealing voluptuous elements of cherry, chocolate and spice box.
- 2008 Donelan Family, Syrah, Walker, Vine Hill, Sonoma 94-97 pts., Parker; $59.00: The Perrier Jouët Blason Rose NV is a lovely pale copper-tinged salmon pink in colour, with some subtle redcurrant fruit and toffee hints on the nose. This wine has a gentle mineral character with firm acidity and rich yet delicate summer fruit flavours on the palate with a long, lingering finish.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
