Village Wine Cellar Features! Grgich Hills Estate, Certified Organic & Biodynamic!
All reviews from their website - 2008 Fume Blanc, Napa Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer; $30.00: Made from grapes that were certified organic and Biodynamic at our cool American Canyon and Carneros vineyards, not far from the San Francisco Bay. The wine's mouth-watering acidity and elegant flavors of tropical fruit, lemon grass and a touch of mineral at the end of the long finish are perfect with grilled seafood and chicken, creamy pasta dishes or summer salads.
- 2007 Chardonnay, Napa Valley, 91 pts., Tanzer $40.00: Crafted from grapes that were certified organic and Biodynamic, our Chardonnay did not undergo malolactic fermentation, creating a wine that is alive with delicious acidity. This aromatic wine is rich with aromas of ripe peach, mango and tropical flowers, plus a note of minerality. Showcase this Chardonnay's elegance with fresh seafood, roasted chicken, grilled pork, or creamy cheeses.
- 2006 Merlot, Napa Valley, 91 pts., Organic Wine Review; $42.00:This is a Cabernet lovers' Merlot! Packed with flavors of cherries, blackberries and a hint of dried herbs on the finish, this wine's rich, complex mouthfeel makes it perfect with beef tenderloin, rack of lamb or barbecued pork.
- 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, 92 pts. Wine Spectator, 1.5 Litre; Was $129.00, Now $119.00: This magnum (equal to two 750ml bottles) is the perfect gift for that special someone (or for yourself). Wine Spectator gave this wine 92 points and Quarterly Review of Wines awarded it five stars, its highest-rated category of "wines of extraordinary character and quality."
- 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, NYR; $60.00:
All of the grapes were grown at our estate vineyards, which are certified organic and Biodynamic. The result is an elegant wine with aromas of black cherries and licorice with a long finish. Full bodied with smooth tannins, it's the perfect partner with filet mignon, grilled steak or lamb chops
- 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville Selection, Napa Valley, 90 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; $135.00: This vintage marks the first year our prestigious Yountville Section was certified Biodynamic. We're proud to be the custodians of some of oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Napa Valley: a block in Yountville of the Inglenook clone, planted on St. George rootstock in 1959. Full-bodied with firm tannins, this Cabernet Sauvignon offers rich aromas of blackberry, black licorice and allspice. Serve with roasted meat dishes or all by itself to fully enjoy the wine's flavors and complexity.
- 2007 Zinfandel, Napa Valley, 92 pts., Connoisseur's Guide; $35.00: Grown at our estate vineyard in Calistoga, nestled in northern tip of Napa Valley, our Zinfandel grapes are certified organic and Biodynamic. Classic Zinfandel flavors of strawberries, raspberries and plums make this wine the perfect match for grilled meats, thin crust pizza and pastas with tomato sauce.
- 2008 Violetta, Late Harvest, Napa Valley, 90 pts., Wine Spectator; Was $85.00, Now $69.00: This uniquely delicious late-harvest depends on Botrytis cinerea, a special fungus that permeates the grape skin, concentrating the sugar and flavors. We use a field blend that's predominantly Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling with some Gewurztraminer. Ripe white peaches, orange blossom honey and toasted almonds are prominently in the nose and the wine's incredible depth coats the mouth with flavors that linger forever. This wine is perfect with fruit tarts, rich cheeses or serve it all by itself for dessert.

Our Winning Bid at 2010 Premiere Napa Valley Has Arrived! $89.00 per bottle
7th successful bid in seven consecutive years at Premiere Napa Valley 2010 - Monticello Vineyards 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Yewell Vineyard Over the weekend of February 21st, 2010, we attended Premiere Napa Valley 2010, the Napa Valley Vintners' Annual Mid-Winter Barrel Auction for the Trade at St. Helena, Napa Valley, California.
We were successful bidders on 5 cases of Lot No. 101, from Monticello Vineyards which is from a single barrel of their 2008 Yewell Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to be the base of their Premier Napa Valley Blend. They blended in 3% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, and have kept this single barrel separate throughout the barrel aging process. The two-acre Yewell Vineyard is located on Ehlers Lane north of St. Helena. They've been making wine from this vineyard for nearly 20 years and are proud to offer this special blend as part of the Premiere Napa Valley auction lot.
This offering of Monticello Vineyard by the Corley Family "Yewell Vineyard" shows off the tremendous intensity from this vineyard. Boasting a complex range of red and dark fruits, the wine also shows roasted nuts, coffee and toasty oak.
We now have this wine in the store at $89.00 per bottle.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
