The extra measure of Chardonnay contributes elegance and austerity, which balance nicely with the delicate fruitiness of the Pinot Noir.
- NV Domaine Carneros, Brut Rose, 93 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $37.50: "Delicious. This is a full-bodied blush bubbly with instant appeal, from the coppery color to the long, spicy finish. - NV Billecart-Salmon, Brut Rose, Ay, 94 pts., Wine News; $108.00: Billecart Salmon Rose is one of the best non-vintage roses from Champagne. The Sparkling Wine is made from 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier. It is salmon-pink in color and full of vibrant fruit flavours such as strawberry and citrus.
- NV Beau Joie, Brut, Rose, Epernay; $135.00: The Beau Joie Rosé has a crisp and fruity taste and comes in a copper armored bottle. It features over 60 hand-applied rivets and the rose color peeks between the spaces. It's not just pretty, it's a also green, the encasing is created from second-generation copper scrap and the brand has activated a recycling program with venues so that each bottle's encasing can be further reprocessed.
- 1999 Bollinger, Rose, La Grande Annee, 97 pts., Wine News; $150.00: With Bollinger, Rose champagne is first and foremost a 'Grande Annee' wine. It is therefore only produced from a great vintage when grapes have reached a perfect maturity and an excellent balance between the acids and sugars. The Bollinger Grande Annee remains, however, a blended wine from crus and grape varieties. In this sense, it too carries the expression of the House style. However, in this case, the style is also dependent on the characteristics of the particular great vintage.
- 2002 Perrier Jouet, Fleur de Champagne, Rose, Epernay, 94 pts., Wine News; $325.00: Its distinct raspberry/strawberry infusion character gives this wine an exceptional amount of direct fruitiness that is becoming more and more evident in Champagnes of its color. There is also a youthful vitality to the wine and a bread dough yeastiness that one does not see in the older bottlings.

Our Winning Bid at 2010 Premiere Napa Valley Has Arrived! $89.00 per bottle
7th successful bid in seven consecutive years at Premiere Napa Valley 2010 - Monticello Vineyards 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Yewell Vineyard Over the weekend of February 21st, 2010, we attended Premiere Napa Valley 2010, the Napa Valley Vintners' Annual Mid-Winter Barrel Auction for the Trade at St. Helena, Napa Valley, California.
We were successful bidders on 5 cases of Lot No. 101, from Monticello Vineyards which is from a single barrel of their 2008 Yewell Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to be the base of their Premier Napa Valley Blend. They blended in 3% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, and have kept this single barrel separate throughout the barrel aging process. The two-acre Yewell Vineyard is located on Ehlers Lane north of St. Helena. They've been making wine from this vineyard for nearly 20 years and are proud to offer this special blend as part of the Premiere Napa Valley auction lot.
This offering of Monticello Vineyard by the Corley Family "Yewell Vineyard" shows off the tremendous intensity from this vineyard. Boasting a complex range of red and dark fruits, the wine also shows roasted nuts, coffee and toasty oak.
We now have this wine in the store at $89.00 per bottle.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr. is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:
"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."
Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar. This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled. Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised. As you are aware, all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm. This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar. |
