Winter $1.00 Sale!

Buy One Of These Bottles & Get the 2nd Bottle,
                               Same Brand For $1.00!

  • 2007 Marquis Philips, Cabernet Sauvignon, S2, 91 pts., Parker; Was $40.00, Now $35.00: "The 2007 MP Cabernet Sauvignon S2 spent 16 months in French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it emits enticing notes of cedar, leather, earth, black currant, and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, this firm Cabernet has enough structure to evolve for several years. It has excellent depth, savory black fruit flavors, plenty of spice, and good length. This well-balanced effort should be at its best from 2010 to 2017." Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!

  • 2007 Pax Cellars, Syrah, Cuvee Christine, 90-92 pts., Parker; $65.00: "The other 2007s I tasted include the 2007 Syrah Cuvee Christine, a 100% Syrah with 35% whole clusters. It exhibits plenty of meaty, berry fruit intertwined with underbrush, pepper, and tapenade characteristics offered in a distinctive, Crozes-Hermitage/northern Rhone style. Medium-bodied with excellent fruit, it should drink well for 7-10 years." (12/08) Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
  • 2003 Elderton, Shiraz, Command, Barossa Valley, 94 pts., Parker; Was $122.00, Now $119.00: "While the deep plum/ruby/garnet-tinged 2003 Shiraz Command is slightly less nuanced than the 2002, it is just as powerful and full-bodied, offering copious quantities of fruit, glycerin, tannin, and muscle. This chewy, rich offering appears to be on a faster evolutionary track than its 2002 counterpart. Give it another 2-3 years of bottle age, and consume it over the following 12-15." Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
  • NV Yalumba Museum Release Antique Tawny, Barossa Valley, 375 ml., 92 pts., Parker; $39.00: Yalumba is a fabulous source of antique fortifieds that often sell for a song. The extraordinary non-vintage Museum Release Antique Tawny exhibits a medium amber color along with notes of prunes, sweet berries, raisins, spice, and jammy, overripe strawberries. Believed to be from a 20-year-old solera, it is delicious, but unlikely to improve. None of these Australian fortifieds improve in the bottle, but they rarely change and can be kept for a long time. Once opened, they should be consumed within 4-7 days. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!
  • NV Yalumba Museum Release Muscat, Barossa Valley, 375 ml., 92 pts., Parker; $39.00: The Non-Vintage Museum Reserve Muscat is medium amber with a superb bouquet of honey, ginger, candied apricots, and peach. Ripe, sweet, and hedonistic, it has a very long finish. Yalumba has devoted considerable effort to bringing out the best in Viognier. Get the 2nd bottle for $1.00!

This $1.00 purchase only applies to the 2nd bottle. No other discounts allowed. All sales final. No returns or exchanges. Offer good January 10th - January 16th. Offer good while supplies last. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Village Wine Cellar Features!
Notable California
Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 2007 Stratton Lummis, Napa Valley; $20.00: Aromas of cassis mixed with dark cherry fruit and chocolate. Dark fruit flavors with mild acidity and smooth full body.

  • 2007 Parallel, Napa Valley, 95 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $55.00: This 2007 wine was made with 100% cabernet sauvignon grapes from Napa Valley; it reveals delicate aromas of black currant, spices as black pepper and licorice on the nose and the mouthfeel brings a sense of finesse and depth. The velvety texture is combined with complex flavors of graphite, sweet cherry and rosemary finishing with refined tannins. We feel confident to think that this vintage will be remembered as one of the best" - Philippe Melka, Winemaker
  • 2007 Vine Cliff, Oakville, 98 pts., Wine Enthusiast; $76.00: This outstanding vintage more than upholds the tradition and quality of this signature wine. Deep, ripe and lush, it drinks beautifully when young, and rewards patience when laid down.

  • 2006 Silver Oak, Alexander Valley, 92 pts., Wine & Spirits, Was $70.00, Now $55.00: Combines full body and richness with moderate alcohol. It has a garnet color and a nose of cassis liqueur, nutmeg and dark chocolate. On the palate, it has a rich, mouth-coating attack, great expression of fruit, a full-body and beautifully integrated tannins that lead to a long, spicy finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine will give drinking pleasure through 2026.

  • 2007 Nickel & Nickel, Kelham Vineyard, Napa Valley, 94+ pts., Parker; $90.00: Even more opaque ruby/purple-tinged (almost blue/purple) is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Kelham Vineyard, which comes from a western hillside vineyard planted three decades ago. Like all the other wines, it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Classic creme de cassis, vanillin and spice box aromas emerge from this full-bodied, dense, rich wine. Approachable now, it promises to be even better in 4-5 years and last for two decades or more.

  • 2007 Cakebread Cellars, Dancing Bear Ranch, Howell Mtn., 91+ pts., Parker; $119.00: The dense purple-colored 2007 Dancing Bear Ranch Proprietary Red (80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc) reveals more chocolate fudge and coffee notes. It does not have the nuances or complexity of the Benchland Select or the sheer joy of the Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, but there is a lot going on in this cuvee.

  • 2007 PlumpJack, Reserve, Oakville, Napa Valley, 99 pts., Parker; $295.00: The virtually perfect 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot) does indeed recall those great Villa Mt. Eden Cabernets of 1974 and 1978. An inky/purple hue is accompanied by a provocative aromatic display of blackberries, blueberries, cassis, spring flowers, and graphite. The wine's extraordinary purity, unbelievable density of fruit, and full-bodied mouthfeel result in an awesome Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for three decades or more. This modern day legend is the finest wine to emerge from the Plumpjack winery. Bravo!

  • 2007 Hundred Acres, Ark, Howell Mtn., Napa Valley, 100 pts., Parker; $325.00: "A perfect wine, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard (1,300 - 1,400 cases) from Howell Mountain is one of the great efforts from this high elevation terroir. It offers notes of burning embers, black raspberries, blueberries and flowers, a full-bodied opulence, wonderful intensity, but the wine is not weighty or overripe. Fleshy and voluptuous with terrific floral notes, it should drink well for 15-20 years."

Our Winning Bid at 2010 Premiere Napa Valley  Has Arrived!
$89.00 per bottle

7th successful bid in
seven consecutive years at

Premiere Napa Valley 2010
- Monticello Vineyards
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
Yewell Vineyard

Over the weekend of February 21st we attended Premiere Napa Valley 2010, the Napa Valley Vintners' Annual Mid-Winter Barrel Auction for the Trade at St. Helena, Napa Valley, California.

We were successful bidders on 5 cases of Lot No. 101, from Monticello Vineyards which is from a single barrel of their 2008 Yewell Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to be the base of their Premier Napa Valley Blend. They blended in 3% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, and have kept this single barrel separate throughout the barrel aging process. The two-acre Yewell Vineyard is located on Ehlers Lane north of St. Helena. They've been making wine from this vineyard for nearly 20 years and are proud to offer this special blend as part of the Premiere Napa Valley auction lot.

This offering of Monticello Vineyard by the Corley Family "Yewell Vineyard" shows off the tremendous intensity from this vineyard. Boasting a complex range of red and dark fruits, the wine also shows roasted nuts, coffee and toasty oak.

We now have this wine in the store at $89.00 per bottle.

Village Wine Cellar - Where we keep our entire store at a constant 64 degrees

From Parker's Wine Buyers Guide No 7 by Robert M. Parker, Jr.  is this quote from the introduction, How to Store Wine, page 9:

"If you can somehow get the temperature down to 65 degrees Farenheight or below, you will never have to worry about the condition of your wines."

Here at the Village Wine Cellar we proudly keep  we proudly keep our ENTIRE store a constant "64 degrees temperature controlled," 365 days a year, hence Village Wine Cellar.

This separates our store from all others as temperature is vital to the keeping wine from being spoiled.  Proper storage is crucial to keeping the wine's integrity and quality from being compromised.  As you are aware,  all too often, someone has purchased a bottle of wine elsewhere only to find that their purchase is ruined due to the store temperature was too warm.  This will never happen at Village Wine Cellar.
