The key to an effective email newsletter lies in a notion known as "permission marketing."  Your email newsletter should build goodwill with your customers and prospects, not annoy them.  Therefore, you need to obtain permission from everyone before adding them to your email marketing list.

Q:   How often should I send my email newsletter?
 
A:   You should send your email newsletter on a monthly basis.  If you send it out less frequently, it will not be often enough to establish a relationship with your readers.  If you send it out more frequently then monthly, you may risk bothering your readers.  In my experience, a monthly educational email newsletter will get the nurturing job done.  Also, make sure you send it out roughly the same time each month.  You want your readers to know when to expect your e-newsletter.
