Issue No. 4MAY 2011
E-Newsletter 5/1/2011

Greetings!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to Tacoma PFLAG.  Without their hard work Rainbows Over Tacoma would not have been the successful event it was.  Thank you also to the many people who supported and attended this event, your contributions make all the difference.

It is because of partners like PFLAG, and the groups listed below, that the Tacoma Rainbow Center is able to provide the services and resources needed in our community.  I invite you to take this opportunity to learn a little more about our partners at the RC.

If you are in the neighborhood stop in and enjoy our community hours and relax in the space that your sponsorship built.

In Partnership-

Michelle

Transgender Book Club - Our book group is now over four years old. The name "Transgender Bookgroup" is at this point in time a misnomer as we read books of interest to women. Why you ask? Well first we have had no men even inquire about joining the group! Second, I think that we have moved on from defining ourselves as trans and have expanded our interest in the world of literature. We read from all genres. Last month we read "When Things Changed" by Gail Collins, which is a history of the status of women from 1960 to now. This next month is a fiction selection "Girl in Translation" by Jean Kwok.   Email BookClubs@rainbowcntr.org for additional information.

What Now? SOFFA Group - What Now? Is a support group for Significant Others, Family, Friends, and Allies of transgender people.  We offer mutual support and community for people who care about someone who is transgender.  2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm.
