Foam Rolling, by Precision Health Group
Introducing St. Louis Triathlon Club's first foam roller clinic. Dr. Lytle from Precision Health Group will not only be giving a lecture on biomechanics and how to train safely, but also an informational demonstration on how to use a foam roller. If you are not familiar with what foam rolling is or have one and don't know how to use it, then you need to attend this meeting. This hands on interactive seminar could be a beneficial addition to your training regimen which, could decrease your injuries and improve your performance.
Athletes use foam rolling as a way to address soreness and muscle tension. Utilizing a variety of foam rolling techniques, athletes can address scar tissue close to the superficial layer that creates pain and limited range of motion in certain areas. However, foam rolling may be uncomfortable at times and even cause a little pain; athletes refer to it as, "The good kind of pain."
We strongly suggest bringing your own foam roller to this clinic so you can follow along as we cover the different techniques you can use during the training season. If you do not have one and wish to buy one, you can purchase them at Big River Running Company.
