Remembering Harvey Berman
Celebrated Stage Director Will Be Missed 
   
   We are saddened to hear the news of the passing of our friend and colleague Harvey Berman. Harvey was the stage director of several of Festival Opera's memorable productions including:

Soprano Cynthia Clayton said, "I was fortunate enough to work with him in the Pagliacci, Bohème, and Giovanni casts. He was a dear man, and a very effective and imaginative director."
   Harvey Berman was also the former Artistic Director for Center REP, a film director, an educator at Diablo Valley College for 53 years, and an award winning director for Contra Costa Musical Theatre (CCMT). Harvey was the  long-time partner of CCMT General Manager Danny Boyle.
   Harvey will be missed by the entire arts community and will always remembered with affection.
  Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Cards may be sent to Danny Boyle via Contra Costa Musical Theatre at P.O. Box 4446, Walnut Creek, California, 94596.

Opera in the Park's New Community Fair  

 

   On June 24th, from 4pm to dusk, Opera in the Park returns to Civic Park in Walnut Creek. Along with an exciting musical roster, there is something new -- a Community Fair. Look for the children's opera mask-making craft activity at Festival Opera's booth, and check out newest booth sponsors Comcast-North East Bay, Gemlust and Ameriprise Financial in Concord. Booths are available for a $250  donation and come with a shade tent, table and a chair. Want to learn how you can have a presence at this signature community arts event?
