Radiant Heat (aka In-Floor Heat) |
Radiant heating systems involve supplying heat directly to the floor of a house. Heat is then radiated from the floor to your feet, the air and furniture as the heat rises. Radiant heating has a number of advantages: it is more efficient than baseboard heating and usually more efficient than forced-air heating because no energy is lost through ducts. The lack of moving air can also be advantageous to people with severe allergies. Hydronic (liquid-based) systems use little electricity, a benefit for homes off the power grid or in areas with high electricity prices like Kaukauna Electric or Oconto Electric Cooperative. The hydronic systems can also be heated with a wide variety of energy sources, including standard gas- or oil-fired boilers, wood-fired boilers, solar water heaters, geothermal systems or some combination of these heat sources.

Little Hot - Little Cool |
The Mitsubishi Electric Mr. Slim is a wall mounted indoor ductless heating and cooling system. Mr. Slims have three components: the wall mounted unit (seen in the photo, top left), the outdoor unit and a wireless remote controller. Refrigerant is cycled between the outdoor and indoor unit and either heated or cooled depending on your home's need for heating or cooling.. These units also have anti-allergy and anti-oxidant filters to assist with indoor air quality. Mr. Slims are a great addition to a basement, sunroom, bedroom anywhere you'd like conditioned air without the expense of ductwork. The systems are quiet and efficient. They also qualify for a $1500 federal tax credit!
