Typhoon Vicente

With gale-force winds and heavy seas, typhoon Vicente continues to batter Hong Kong. The eighth tropical cyclone this year, typhoon Vicente was raised to a signal No. 10 at 16:45 GMT on Monday. This the first time the highest typhoon signal had been raised since 1999. Disruptions are affecting schools, businesses, financial markets and non-essential government services are forced to close until the typhoon subsides below a signal No. 8.

The chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics has said that "at the port, all container release and gates are temporarily frozen at the moment and shall only resume normal operations after the typhoon leaves Hong Kong." Torrential rain and strong winds have grounded flights and caused some ports to halt operations as waters surge.

The typhoon is expected to remain a signal No. 8 until later in the day Tuesday. Please contact your move manager for the latest information pertaining to any shipments that may be affected.
