Apparent terror attack hits Domodedovo Airport in international arrivals area.
An explosion that ripped through a baggage claim area at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on Monday killed at least 31 people, injured dozens of others and closed Russia's largest airport.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told reporters in Moscow the explosion appeared to be a terror attack. Other reports said it appeared a suicide bomber had triggered the massive explosion.
According to Health Ministry officials, about 130 people are injured after the attack, which occurred around 4:32 p.m. local time. The bomb, said to be full of sharp metal objects, exploded near the international arrivals area in the airport.
International flights into Domodedovo, one of three airports serving the Russian capital, were being diverted to nearby airports.
Domodedovo has Russia's largest cargo handling facility, and freighter operators serving the airport include Airbridge Cargo Airlines.
