MidAmerica Airport Announcement 

When the Transportation Security Administration announced sweeping new regulations restricting transport of personal effects and household goods to cargo-only aircraft and not aboard passenger planes, it became obvious that capacity would diminish and prolong transit times. In our role as your business partner, Hilldrup International understands it needs to become involved in the process of determining when and what cargo will move on cargo flights. These new regulations are a result of the discovery of ink cartridges packed with explosive materials intercepted in October, setting off a chain of events tightening global security for goods transported by air freight.  A purposely unpredictable mix of security layers including heightened cargo screening and additional security at cargo hubs, explosive trace detection, advanced imaging technology, and canine teams will continue to challenge the global supply chain.

The Hilldrup Companies are pleased to announce that together with its St. Louis-based corporate parent, UniGroup Inc., we are developing a proactive solution for clients with business interests in China. Beginning December 15, we will offer regular weekly nonstop MD-11 freighter service between MidAmerica St. Louis Airport and Shanghai, China. MidAmerica Airport is located just outside of St. Louis, Missouri and adjacent to Scott Air Force Base in Southern Illinois, providing convenient access to multimodal rail, inland port centers and immediate access to five interstate highways.

Along with timely movement, we strive to contain air freight costs by leveraging the significant volume we manage on behalf of our commercial and government clients, which includes personal effects and household goods, as well as office furniture and equipment to keep up with the demands of the Shanghai office space boom.

UniGroup is among the first to set up a specialized Customs Brokerage Service at the new privately funded MidAmerica cargo complex. In this role, we become integral members of the global supply chain by coordinating and handling customs activities for household goods and high-value products, while ensuring compliance with evolving border protection measures for efficient flow of freight.
