Basing Wellness Program Incentives on the Right Factors is Important

Promoting wellness can lower your insurance claims.  But a wellness program can increase discrimination claims unless you're careful. 

To stay safe, base incentives on participation rather than results.  For example, all workers should be offered a base reward for participating in a weight-loss class, regardless of how many pounds they drop. 

Then you can offer additional awards for each level of success achieved.

For my inaugural article, I thought I would take a stab at debunking the mysteries of the international moving industry. My valiant and admittedly uphill ambition is to eradicate the self perpetuating "black eye" that our industry feels it needs to wear by not setting uniform pricing standards to afford consumers a simplified apples-to-apples method of comparing cost.

During my years overseas, I learned the United States is the only country in the world where weight is used to compensate packers, drivers, warehouses, and everyone else in the supply chain. As a result, door-to-door shipping costs in the United States have always been presented to consumers in units of weight; per one hundred pounds; per pound, ad nauseam.

Fortunately, the transportation world has evolved. Ship and aircraft representatives that move freight across continents, figured out by offering a variety of container sizes to load freight of various shapes and sizes, they could offer flat rates from point-to-point, with minimal handling and labor. What a novel concept...flat rates!
