The REAL Cost of Permanent Cosmetics
Independence ~ Confidence ~ Convenience ~ Time
How do we assign value to permanent cosmetics? Value is what we gain. What would someone pay to be able to swim all summer long without having eyeliner run down your face? What would you pay to be able to wipe across your brow in the middle of a good workout, golf, or tennis game, and NOT find your brow on your sleeve? How about kissing your honey, children or grandchildren without getting lipstick all over them? To answer any one of these questions, lets look at how much we currently spend on our other beauty procedures:
Hair Cut & Style
$45 every 4 weeks..... $ 540 per year
1.5 hours each appointment = 18 hours per year
117 hours to fix it yourself everyday....
TOTAL TIME: 135 hours /year
Hair Cut/Color:
$ 85 every 5 weeks..... $ 850 per year
2.0 hours each appointment = 20.8 hours per year
118.2 hours onto the 20.8 hours you spend at the salon!
TOTAL TIME: 139 hours / year on your hair!
Acrylic Nails:
$ 25 every 2 weeks..... $650 per year
1 hour each appointment = 26 hours per year.
Now you won't fix them yourself at all, but we all know they only look good for the first 10 days then they start looking a bit in need of attention.
AGAIN: 26 hours a year, every year of your life spent sitting in a chair getting your nails done.....
BOTOX
$500 every 3-4 months.....$1,500 - 2,000 + per year
Botox!! Got to have it! It is something I pray I NEVER have to live without out! I'm just putting this in to prove a point....
AND.....don't get me started on how much money we spend on SHOES and those go on your feet! LOL!!
Permanent Cosmetics: example Brows
Time: 2.5 hours for appt 1 & 2
Cost: $ 700 initial cost...touch ups in 2-3 years at $350
For the 1st and 2nd appointments to a 3 year touch up, that's .64/day for permanent eyebrows, an average of $233 per year. Once the touchup is done and another 3 years passes, that's an average cost of $116 per year.
So, I'm putting all this in because I had a client who came in for a brow touch up after she hadn't been in for 5 years. She still had good color, so she only needed one appointment. She actually complained about spending $350 to touch up her brows, after she bragged to me that she spends a MINIMUM of $100 per month on her hair. Her average cost of permanent brows was $140 per year, AND she didn't have to do anything to fix them every day.
I don't know....call me crazy, but this didn't make any sense to me at all. My hope is the above table of procedures will help you feel better about your appointments. Too often, we are faced with trying to correct BAD permanent make-up on people who wanted to get their procedures done for $200 or less, and they wanted it Fast.
A very wise man (my husband) once told me:
GOOD, FAST, & CHEAP.... Pick 2!
Might be good and fast, but it won't be cheap!
Might be Fast and Cheap, but it won't be good!
