Don't let this be you! The photo you see is of a client who had her brow procedure by Kari 3 years earlier. She did not come in for any touch-ups during that time. Because her color had faded so much, largely due to the amount of time that had elapsed, the client was informed that she would need two appointments instead of one; it was as though they had never been done before. Waiting too long in between touch-ups became more expensive than if she had come in for touch-ups prior to allowing her brows to fade to the extent that they had. Use wisdom in keeping up your procedures. If you drove your car without checking the oil for 3 years, you couldn't be upset with the mechanic when told that you need a new engine instead of just an oil change -- right?
So, when in doubt, call our office and schedule a "drive by" so Kari can look at your procedure area and let you know if you're due for a touch-up..... Better to be safe than sorry ...

Q: Is permanent makeup like a tattoo?
A: It is similar. Because pigment particles are placed under the skin, it can be considered a tattoo. Traditional tattoos are applied with either a coil or rotary machine, while permanent cosmetics can be applied with machines, as well as applied by hand. Coil and rotary machine applications generally penetrate the tissue at a greater depth while applications by hand are more superficial. Permanent cosmetics, regardless of the method of application, will require maintenance/touch-ups as a result of pigment particles fading as well as the exfoliation process of the human body. The outstanding benefit to having the hand method application is that it allows you to make adjustments to the procedure over the years, where machine application can limit your ability to make changes as your face and skin change. Done properly the results can be Miraculous!

~Secrets of the Beauty Insiders~
By Nada Manley
Exfoliation Education:
"Exfoliation of the skin is most effective when you combine both chemical exfoliants (i.e. beta/alpha hydroxy acids) and physical exfoliants (scrubs) into your weekly routine. Physical exfoliants remove surface dead skin cells and chemical exfoliants loosen the bond that holds dead skin cells together so that they shed more effectively. Most estheticians combine different types of exfoliants in their facials, and that is what gives your skin that gorgeous 'just had a facial' glow."
