New West Partnership Trade Agreement
In January of this year, the BC Forest Service invited four BC-based operators to participate in a meeting to discuss the elements of the agreement. The operators invited were Valley Helicopters, VIH, Skyline, and Resource Helicopters. read more

HAC Requests a Meeting with the Minister on the Canadian Ownership Issue
On January 28, HAC delivered a second written submission to the Minister of Transport Chuck Strahl, and requested a meeting to discuss the issue face-to-face. The Association continues to receive calls and emails from members who want to see the Canadian Ownership status of Alpine Helicopters resolved without delay.
The January 28 letter is the fifth in a series of letters delivered to Transport Canada on this subject since the Fall of 2010, and the second letter to the Minister. The issue continues to go unresolved in the face of growing frustration from a broad spectrum of aviation stakeholders. The meeting with the Minister has recently been scheduled to take place on March 10, 2011. |

Helicopter Student Pilots and
Engineering Students Extended Deep Discounts at HAC This Year
In an effort to assist the future pilots and engineers that will be the backbone of our industry in the years-to-come, HAC and Vertical Magazine are extending special convention registration rates to Student Helicopter Pilots and Student Engineers/Apprentices.
On March 25th, Vertical Magazine is sponsoring a complimentary one-day registration to the first 80 helicopter Student Pilots and Student Engineers and Apprentices that register on-site (normally $299 for individual non-HAC members). For other students on March 25, HAC will extend a $50 One-Day on-site registration. For students wishing to attend HAC on March 26, HAC is extending a One-Day Registration of $75.00 (Luncheon not included). All students accessing these special rates will require Student Identification or a School Letter.

Applications are now being accepted for full time aviation students who would like to apply for the Peter Gardiner Aviation Student Grant. The grant (valued at $3700) includes a full registration package at the CHC Safety & Quality Summit from March 28 - 30, plus attendance at the Beginning HFACS/HFIX course form March 31 - April 1st, and $1500 toward hotel and travel expenses. L'AHC Demande une Rencontre
Avec Le Ministre Sur La Question
de Propriété Canadienne
Le 28 janvier, l'AHC a présenté une seconde soumission écrite au ministre des Transports, Chuck Strahl, et lui a demandé une rencontre pour discuter de la question face à face (voir la lettre). L'Association continue de recevoir des appels et des courriels de membres qui veulent que la question de statut d'entreprise de propriété canadienne d'Alpine Helicopters soit résolue sans tarder.
La lettre du 28 janvier est la cinquième d'une série de lettres envoyées à Transports Canada sur cette question depuis l'automne 2010 et la deuxième lettre adressée directement au ministre. La question n'est toujours pas résolue malgré une frustration croissante chez un vaste groupe d'intervenants du secteur de l'aviation. La rencontre avec le ministre a récemment été planifiée pour le 10 mars 2011. |

Les étudiants pilotes d'hélicoptère et les étudiants en génie bénéficieront d'importants escomptes au congrès de l'ACH de cette année.
Pour aider les futurs pilotes et ingénieurs, qui seront la pierre angulaire de notre industrie dans les années à venir, l'ACH et Vertical Magazine offrent un prix d'inscription spécial aux étudiants/apprentis pilotes et aux étudiants en génie au congrès de l'ACH.
Le 25 mars, Vertical Magazine offrira une inscription gratuite d'un jour aux 80 premiers étudiants pilotes et étudiants en génie qui s'inscriront en ligne (normalement 299 $ pour les non membres de l'ACH). Après les 80 premiers étudiants inscrits le 25 mars, les frais d'inscription seront de 50 $ pour une inscription d'un jour faite en ligne. Pour les étudiants qui voudront assister au congrès de l'ACH le 26 mars, l'ACH offre l'inscription pour la journée au prix de 75 $ (lunch non inclus). Tous les étudiants qui veulent bénéficier de ces prix spéciaux doivent fournir une preuve (carte d'étudiant) ou une lettre de leur établissement d'enseignement.
